I like this. (I mean, not you getting an STD. Although it could have been worse). Especially the use of the word "prurient." And, my first real STD scare was actually when I was living in Denmark. Thank god for free health care there!

Life is hard and full of pain. The upshot is that I've bought myself a blender and am fast on my way to becoming the new Jack LaLanne. Totally macho :)

You'd think by now that Hallmark would have a nice line of cards you could send out to the "maybe you have an std too" crowd. Soften the blow a bit.

I've had the enormous luck to never contract an std. I remember falling in love with my kid's dad, thinking it was "forever" and being overwhelmingly relieved that I'd never have to worry about std's or unwanted pregnancies again.

Ah well...
