The other day, I saw two grown men putting on a puppet show in the subway. Let me clarify and extrapolate, actually. These were:
- Two grown men.
- Dressed in very “street” style clothing, looking totally intense.
- Standing in front of a cardboard castle.
- With two lady princess puppets.
- Lip-synching to Christina Aguilera‘s “Beautiful.”
So yeah, it was totally, like, the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen. The thing that tickled me in particular was these two guy, who looked ridiculously serious and intense, had clearly spent hours practicing a puppet routine to a sappy power ballad. With, you know, puppets. Again, totally awesome.
I have to imagine that the drive to do this came from parents who encouraged their imagination as children, which is why, though I do not have bebehs of my own, I always appreciate an item that gives a child an open door to create, rather than telling them how to play.
And speaking of open doors, this item is a puppet theater… That snaps into your doorway. You like how I brought that all together?
Mounted on an adjustable rod that fits into a doorway up to 40” wide, the theater is easy to set up, has working front and side curtains, and fits neatly into a cloth storage bag for the times when you actually want to use the doorway.
Price below, but first, check out one of my favorite puppet shows (really):
