A More Pleasurable Waking Up Experience

At the moment, I wake up to low-volume NPR. It's so relaxing that, at times, 20 minutes pass before I realize that the voices in my head are radio-voices and not dream-voices.

Perhaps it would make more sense to wake up to my Deliriously Happy Mix, the one I often play when commuting to work, in the hopes that it will make me, um, deliriously happy.

To be going to work.

The iHome Alarm Clock Radio for iPhone would allow me to do such a thing, which is AWESOME!!! After the jump, my Deliriously Happy Mix (please don't make fun of me):

  1. Portobella's "Vive La Difference"
  2. Infidels' "Satellite In My Brain"
  3. Kaiser Chiefs' "Everyday I Love You Less and Less"
  4. Tatu's "All The Things She Said"
  5. Eiffel 65's "Blue"
  6. Grandmaster Flash's "White Lines"
  7. Countdown's "Around the World"
  8. Styx's "Mister Roboto"
  9. Paper Lace's "The Night Chicago Died"
  10. Murray Head's "One Night in Bangkok"
  11. Pete Townsend's "Let My Love Open the Door"
  12. The Dandy Warhols' "Get Off"
  13. Timbaland's "The Way I Are"
  14. Hannah Montana's "See You Again"
  15. Timo Maas's "To Get Down"
  16. Missy Elliot's "Work It"
  17. Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer"
  18. Michael Jackson's "Ease On Down the Road"
  19. Feist's "I Feel It All"
  20. The Wannadies' "Hit"
  21. Jackson 5's "I Want You Back"

That song from the Kaiser Chiefs is on my "Happy" mix too!

I have one of these and I love it! I listen to my iPod more on the iHome than I do without it.

Another plus is that it charges the iPod the entire time...so no tedious computer plugins!

If I had to wake up to that god damn Paralyzer song... well, I don't know what I'd do, but I'd be pretty pissed...

I can't believe you can like "The Way I Are" what with its grammatical errors and all..... as a teacher these things are beginning to bother me more and more.... such as when I correct Jordan Sparks when she sings "Tell me how I'm supposed to breathe with NO air" I loudly sing "WITHOUT ANY AIR!" :)  I also asked what the "Taco's" special at the deli across the street owned.

Wendy Atterberry is a recent transplant to New York City via Chicago. You can often find her at some karaoke dive bar singing her repertoire, which includes "Midnight Train to Georgia," "Daniel," and most recently, "Sweet Dreams." Don't expect her to always hit the right notes. She lives in Manhattan with her boyfriend and two cats, and has a blog like everyone else.

Alex Zalben is a writer living in New York City. He's written for McSweeney's, Modern Humorist and PulpSecret.com. As one-fifth of the sketch comedy group Elephant Larry, he has been written up in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and pretty much every other major publication. Their blog was named one of PC Magazine's Top Blogs for 2007, and they recently won an ECNY Award for their viral short, "Minesweeper: The Movie." Alex did not know love until he bought his first Mac.
