The $60,000 Ice Cream Sundae

See, the thing is, it comes with TWO cherries. Hence the extra $59,995.

Totally JK, dudes. The $60,000 sundae is the creation of Three Twins Organic Ice Cream, from Napa California, and consists of a hand-churned batch of ice cream from the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Basically, the founder of the company will fly with you to Africa, make as much ice cream as you like out of pure glacial ice, and then donate the rest of the money to help save the glaciers. Not SO ridiculous when you realize it’s for a good cause.

Also, you get a T-Shirt.

What is slightly less ridiculous is the $3,333 sundae also offered by Three Twins. The World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae is a banana split made with syrups from three rare desert wines, served with an ice cream spoon from the 1850s. If you order a day ahead, they’ll have a cellist perform for you.

So far, no-one has ordered either package, but it’s only a matter of time, right?

As one-fifth of the sketch comedy group Elephant Larry, he has been written up in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and pretty much every other major publication. Their blog was named one of PC Magazine's Top Blogs for 2007, and they recently won an ECNY Award for their viral short, "Minesweeper: The Movie." Alex did not know love until he bought his first Mac.

    Diana Vilibert is a freelance writer, among other things. Born in Lithuania, she now lives in New Jersey, where she doesn't have to walk to work ten miles in the snow, barefoot, uphill both ways.
