It was like that scene in E.T. where the lovable extraterrestrial hides among the stuffed animals in Elliot's closets, blending in seamlessly. He was still kitten-sized then (Gizmo, not E.T.), and it took us awhile to realize he was lounging with Melissa's stuffed frog collection.

If your heart lurches every time you can't figure out where the cat is, would you really invest in something that makes it easier for him to hide?

    Wendy Atterberry is a recent transplant to New York City via Chicago.
