Gifts Under $25 for Giant Nerds + Contest!

Posted by Alex Zalben

[$20, Midtown Comics]

There's certainly no shortage of gifts available on the internet for the giant nerd on your list. However, with video games costing (usually) over $60, and geek culture being so... specific, it may be tough to sort through the detritus, and find something really nice.

That's why we're giving away the following:

- Marvel Select Iron Man Action Figure, courtesy of Midtown Comics (pictured above).

- Three copies of Improv Everywhere: Volume 3 (see more info in our gift guide, below).

All you have to do is comment on this post (*See below for official rules) by Wednesday, December 3rd, and you'll be able to win one of the above gifts, completely free.

We'll have more coming for you nerds in higher income brackets throughout the next few weeks, but herewith, some cheapo gifts you can buy for the Otaku in your life:

For the Tech Nerd: Okay, technically, this could go into a higher bracket, but iPhone 3G gift cards can be purchase online, or in any Apple Store, starting at $25.

[$25, Apple]

For the Video Game Nerd: World of Goo is probably the best darn game released for the Wii since Wii Sports. The addicting puzzle play can be gifted to a friend if you own a Wii, or you can purchase a gift card at Amazon. The game itself is $15; but annoyingly, you can only buy gift cards in $20 increments.

[$20, Amazon]

For the Adult Manga Nerd: Battle Royale is easily the most violent thing I've ever read. This Ultimate Edition collects the first three volumes, and extra material, in a handy dandy package that under no circumstances should you read in public.

[$18, Amazon]

For The Secret Nerd: Got a nerd in your life who doesn't like everyone to know about it? But would still like to fly their geek flag high? They grab these jammie-jams, and he or she will be able to profess their nerdom in the privacy of their own home.

[$15, Fun Sleepwear]

For The Comedy Nerd: You've probably seen Improv Everywhere's public stunts everywhere from YouTube to the New York Times. Their "freeze in place" stunt, in particular, went hugely viral this year, and inspired dozens of imitators. So why not check 'em out on the big(ger) screen, and pick up their new DVD? The Comedy Nerd in your life will love it.

[$20, Improv Everywhere]
