Ah, moms--what great ladies they are! And though you should show your appreciation for your momma bear all year round, Hallmark has declared May 10th Mother's Day and if you don't do anything for them on this day, you're going to look like a real jerk when all the moms get together and start gabbing.
In preparation for Mother's Day, we will be showing you five products a day that are sure to please her. Without further ado, here is the first installment of The 25 Mother's Day Gifts You Should Buy Immediately:
[$200, Gaiam]
25) Gaiam EmWave Stress Reliever
I'm an only child, so it's no wonder that I was a real pain in the dick when I was a kid/young teen. If I could go back in time I'd either: a) be less of a brat or b) get my mom this stress reliever. This stress reliever synchoronizes with heart rhythms and measures subtle changes in heart levels, which are directly related to stress. She can then use their methods to calm herself and increase "coherence" (optimal stress-free mentality). It seems like this just increases your awareness of your stress as opposed to ACTUALLY doing something to reduce it. But hey, I don't want to be a total skeptic without trying it, and there are some positive reviews of this online, so it may be worth a shot if it means that moms can potentially relax about work or their punk ass kids. . .

[$17, Personalization Mall]
24) Personalized Sewing Labels
Turn your mom into the best designer around! If she's a knitter, she's probably always knitting sweaters, scarves, and mittens for you, significant others, grandkids, etc. You can order a set of 20 personalized labels with your choice of three different styles for her to affix onto all the super-fashionable, nicer-than-designer fashions she's making for you! (Even if you don't think so, you still have to say it.)

23) Dance Lessons
What mother wouldn't want to get on the dance floor and shake their booty with her son? And if you go for a few dance lessons, you guys will blow everyone away and be the talk of the mom social club for weeks to come. Whether you want to sign up for a series of group classes or just take one or two private lessons, you can do this at any dance studio. Just make sure your mom doesn't get too carried away, or you may eventually find yourself at this:

Prices vary for each dance studio.

[$22, All Favourites]
22) Golden Girls shirt + DVDs of their favorite shows
In memoriam of Bea Arthur, the coolest and hottest of the Golden Girls, get your mom this T-shirt, which they can rock while watching episodes of their favorite shows (which I've stereotypically picked)! Grab the "Golden Girls" DVDs for $20 a season. I would not take part in these marathons, though because, no matter how much I love Dorothy and Sophia, Rose is incredibly irritating. Another show I'd get really bored during was "Columbo" ($30 a season). Unfortunately, my mom loved that show and I had to sit through it as a kid. And no older-mom DVD collection would be complete without "Murder, She Wrote" ($22 - $35 a season).

[$2+, Trade Winds Fruit]
21) Tropical Fruit Seeds
The concept of fruits and vegetables is somewhat new to me. Like I said earlier, I was kind of spoiled when I was younger, so I was never forced to eat fruits and vegetables. Over the last six to seven years, though, I've been expanding my horizons and now I pretty much eat everything (except lima beans, ugh). When I most recently visited my mom, she was surprised to see me eating all sorts of fruits and vegetables and rejecting the Fruit by the Foot she tried to stuff into my luggage.
Give your mom a new hobby and an array of delicious tropical fruits to chomp on! Seeds are way cheap; just make sure you pay attention to the growing properties and appropriate climates for whatever seed you buy. I recently had a Korean Pear and it blew my mind. I would not mind at all if these grew in ample amounts in my mom's yard.
Stay tuned tomorrow for Alex's list of gifts for yo' momma!
