One day a week, I step away from my computer and serve up coffee at a
cute little cafe in Soho. It gets me out of the house, I make a little
extra spending cash, and I'm pretty much guaranteed to see someone
famous there. Yesterday, it was Kate Hudson, who was terribly
obnoxious, but that's not what I want to write about here. What I want
to write about is her gigantic handbag, which she left on the counter
for a full two minutes as she danced around with her son to the music
we were playing. I didn't get a close enough look at the bag to see
what was inside or anything — I'm not stalker-ish like that, anyway —
nor did I even manage to see the brand of the purse, but it was clear
it was a handbag that probably cost more than most New Yorker's rent
