Get Ready for the Fish-lympics

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but, as it turns out, you can teach a goldfish to play sports. Using operant conditioning, positive reinforcement, and the R2 Fish School Training Kit, your goldfish will be playing soccer in no time. Also, limbo, fetch, slalom, basketball, and much more.

Following Up: Silverfish Aquarium Cleaning

Because you demanded it, I have one more update on the Silverfish Aquarium, the Habitrail for fish. Materialista Tori asked, “How do you clean this?” Once again, Sarah from Octopus Studios has been nice enough to answer our stupid questions:

Regarding cleaning and maintenance, the aquarium is basically the same as any other. Included in the kit is a gravel vacuum, an algae sponge (magnetic) and aquarium tongs. Accessibility is not a problem as when cleaning it is possible to reach into the lower spheres by passing the arm down the diagonal tubes (to then use the vacuum or tongs). We are producing a maintenance guide to explain this in more detail as we get this question a lot!

When we talk about hamsters—and believe me, we will talk about hamsters if we ever meet in person—I think we can all agree that the best part of the hamster is its Habitrail. And like my grandfather always said, “It’s not the size of the Habitrail, it’s how applicable it is to other animals that counts.” How right, Grandpa. How right.

Wendy Atterberry is a recent transplant to New York City via Chicago.
