  • How To Become Invisible

If you only buy one thing you see on this blog all day, may I recommend the power of invisibility?

For only twenty-five dollars, eBay user billwwilliams (who, it should be noted, actually has a very positive eBay user rating) will offer you a book which unlocks the secret of invisibility. Oh, and also, you’ll get The Wizard’s Book of Animal Secrets, absolutely free. Which sucks, because I already promised my first born for a copy.

According to the eBay page, “this is not a toy or a magic trick; this is not an illusion or a ninja technique.” Because I’m so sick of all those ninja techniques, right guys?

Why this might actually work, after the jump...

  • Refurnishings: 1950's Magazine Rack

I can break the magazines I read the most into three categories: 1) the ones I only read in the bookstore cafe or in airports; 2) the ones I just read when I want to feel crappy about the size of my thighs and my bank account; and 3) the ones I'm not embarrassed to keep out on my end table or in a cool vintage magazine rack like this one. Which categories do you think the following magazines fall into:

  • Cheap Trick: Metal Owl Necklace

Check it out — I won this awesome vintage owl necklace on eBay yesterday. It's 3 inches long, with beedy little rhinestone eyes, hangs on a 24 inch chain, and looks, yeah, I'll say it: fierce. It was a one-of-a-kind, so I can't point you to a store where y ou can get your very own, but I did find one that's pretty cool in its own right and at less than 9 bucks, it makes a great cheap trick. Check it:

  • Refurnishings: Black and Red Lounge Chair

If it seems like I've just figured out how to embed a poll and I've gotten a bit poll-happy, you're right; I have! Remember when you first got TiVo and you started recording everything on TV just because you could? It's sort of like that. Eventually the novelty will wear off a bit and I'll just record my favorites, so indulge me in the meantime, will you? I've got a new poll regarding this vintage lounge chair and ottoman after the jump. Go on now, take a peek.

  • Refurnishings: Art Deco Lamp

    Chic? Check.

    Old, yet timeless? Check.

    Reasonably priced? Eh.

Well, two out of three ain't bad.

     [starting bid $325, eBay]

  • Refurnishings: Swivel Office Chair

Somehow, having a cool looking swivel office chair makes all that work one has to do a little less tedious. Or, is it the spiked coffee that makes it less tedious?

    [starting bid $9.99, eBay

  • Refurnishings: Papa Bear Chair

This may be called the Papa Bear Chair, but I think it'd fit me just right. Too bad the current bid is already higher than the price of a new Mac (something I'm saving my pennies for as the one I have now is on its last legs). Although, given that the classic design is in production once again and being sold for a suggested retail price of over $18,000, I suppose this antique is still a bargain. Speaking of 'suggested retail," what does that mean exactly? It's like the retailers are saying, "Well, I suggest you pay $18,000 for this chair," and then we, the consumers, come back with, "Well, I'm going to have to ignore your suggestion and pay just $18." Oh, if only it were that easy.

[see site for current price, eBay

  • Refurnishings: Occasional Table

This is called an "occasional" table, which makes me wonder: what the hell is "occasional" about it? Is it a table that is normally kept in the bedroom, but occasionally moved to the livingroom? Or maybe it is usually used to hold a lamp, but occasionally used to hold a plant? Or maybe you really like it and on occasion, you even love it? Regardless of its actual intention, it's up for grabs on eBay.

    [starting bid $79, eBay

  • Want to Buy The World's Largest Album Collection?

Okay, I have good news, and bad news. The good news is that the largest collection of music in the world is now on sale over on eBay. The bad news is, it’s all Spice Girls records.

Totally JK, guys. It’s actually every single major recording from the past sixty years, on 3 Million Records and 300,000 Compact Discs. The collection costs over $50 million, but the starting bid is a lowly $3 million. And more good news: As of the publishing of this post, you could be the very first bidder.

    More info after the jump...

  • about the blogger

Wendy Atterberry is a recent transplant to New York City via Chicago. You can often find her at some karaoke dive bar singing her repertoire, which includes "Midnight Train to Georgia," "Daniel," and most recently, "Sweet Dreams." Don't expect her to always hit the right notes. She lives in Manhattan with her boyfriend and two cats, and has a blog like everyone else.

Alex Zalben is a writer living in New York City. He's written for McSweeney's, Modern Humorist and PulpSecret.com. As one-fifth of the sketch comedy group Elephant Larry, he has been written up in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and pretty much every other major publication. Their blog was named one of PC Magazine's Top Blogs for 2007, and they recently won an ECNY Award for their viral short, "Minesweeper: The Movie." Alex did not know love until he bought his first Mac.

Steph Auteri is a freelance writer and proofreader who has been published in Publishers Weekly, New York Press, Playgirl, and other bastions of fine writing. She maintains a professional site http://www.stephiswrite.com, and also blogs about freelancing over at Freelancedom. You can keep up on her day-to-day by visiting her Twitter page.

Diana Vilibert is a freelance writer, among other things. Born in Lithuania, she now lives in New Jersey, where she doesn't have to walk to work ten miles in the snow, barefoot, uphill both ways. Diana cannot afford most of the products she writes about because she buys too many pairs of heels to make up for her shoeless childhood. She's written for MarieClaire.com, Janemag.com, and CosmoGIRL!.
