Quick Tip(s) of The Day: Marriage Licenses

First off, I'll say I have trouble with spelling both of those words separately, so it's annoying to have them in one phrase together.

Wedding Update: The Ring Bearer

In a gross misunderstanding of what people on the internet are interested in reading about, I'm not going to elaborate on the above picture, which is of a Snake Robot acting as a ring bearer at a wedding. What I AM going to write about is this:

My FW has a super cute nephew, Evan (and a super cute niece, but we'll talk about her stuff some other time). Evan, naturally, is going to be the ring bearer for our upcoming nuptials, because if you have the option of a cute boy-child to carry the ring, that’s what you do. Wedding Update: Bridesmaid’s Gifts

As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m getting married at the end of August, and since there’s an intersection between “weddings” and “buying a lot of stuff” and “this blog,” I’m going to sporadically post about some of the cooler stuff we’re getting.

Now, the following is not something I bought, but rather the FW. Apparently, it’s tradition to buy bridesmaids gifts, and so she got these items, which I’m giving plenty of space to, in case any of the bridesmaids read this blog, and want to be surprised.

Somebody’s Getting Married

Okay, so the cat is out of the bag (so to speak) about the fact that I’m getting married at the end of the Summer. The reason I’ve been hesitating even mentioning this is that commenters have occasionally ripped Steph and/or Wendy a new one for the very idea that they might have significant others, so I’d have to imagine you’d come and burn my house down if I told you I was getting hitched.

In any case, bring the torches, cause over the next few months, I’m going to share some tips and tricks I’m learning along the way to getting married.

Perfect on Paper

I know that, essentially, everything we post on this blog carries our stamp of approval, but I’m going to extra-personally recommend the gorgeous designs of Brooklyn based designer Perfect on Paper.

Having experienced first hand the perfect and unique service of this one woman paper machine, I can say definitively that her designs for wedding invites, baby announcements, and really, anything you can think of that can be put on paper, are completely striking, fun, and one-of-a-kind.

Wendy Atterberry is a recent transplant to New York City via Chicago. You can often find her at some karaoke dive bar singing her repertoire, which includes "Midnight Train to Georgia," "Daniel," and most recently, "Sweet Dreams." Don't expect her to always hit the right notes. She lives in Manhattan with her boyfriend and two cats, and has a blog like everyone else.

Alex Zalben is a writer living in New York City. He's written for McSweeney's, Modern Humorist and PulpSecret.com. As one-fifth of the sketch comedy group Elephant Larry, he has been written up in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and pretty much every other major publication. Their blog was named one of PC Magazine's Top Blogs for 2007, and they recently won an ECNY Award for their viral short, "Minesweeper: The Movie." Alex did not know love until he bought his first Mac.

Steph Auteri is a freelance writer and proofreader who has been published in Publishers Weekly, New York Press, Playgirl, and other bastions of fine writing.
