What could Gorilla Biscuits and House of Pain possibly have in common?

They both have commerative shoes being made by Adidas!

To celebrate hardcore label Revelation Records 150th release and 22nd anniversary, Adidas and Revelation are releasing this pair of vegan sneakers and a compilation CD of bands covering classic Revelation Records bands. I'm not too psyched about some of the covers (I listened to the band covering Texas is the Reason and they are awful), but the shoes are pretty sweet.

And just in time for St. Patty's Day, Adidas and House of Pain have teamed up for this version of the Campus 80. The House of Pain logo is on the tongue and the shoes bears the name of their first album, Fine Malty Lyrics, on the side. This sneaker is limited to 1,500 pairs andwill be launched on March 17th at the Concepts store in Cambridge, MA. Here's a promo vid:

Asics' Onitsuka Tiger's Rakugaki series employ a print/embroidery of a shoe design sketched on graph paper. These came out last year and are now extremely difficult to find, but you may have some luck on eBay.

If a clerk tells you to smell the sneakers you’re eyeing, punch him in the pants. Unless, you just happen to be looking at this pair of Spring Courts. They smell like mouth. Not any old mouth, but one just out of the dentist’s chair. Minty.

Stopped by my favorite clothing store here in So Cal and was met with just this dare. “Hey, smell the inside of those.” And, it wasn’t a comely purveying lass that suggested so. It was a dude. And he had a rat tail. Yes, like in the 80s. Still, I somehow obeyed. And Ka-Pow. When I breathed into these Spring Court Punched Mid Cuts, I got the sensation of being on top of a mountain of sneakers and all I want to do is yodel about how they all suck because they only smell like leather and not cool peppermint.

And they look almost as nice as they smell.

Call me anal, but I am not a big fan of owning more than one pair of sneakers of the same brand. Luckily, there are more brands available than ever. (Thank you, entrepreneurial rappers, rise of skateboarding and rich dudes whose hobbies include reanimating extremely sleepy brands.) Case in point, these monochromatic beauties…

They’re PF Flyers. I’ve never owned a pair. And up until a few years ago, vintage would’ve been my only option. Thankfully, they’ve been resuscitated. And mostly unchanged. These are Bob Cousy (legendary Boston Celtic) signature models, first made in the 1950s. Hard to believe that pros used to ball in these. I picked up green ones, but they also come in white, blue and black, which are all fine options if you already own a pair of Hulk-colored (Mr. Banner not Mr. Hogan) shoes.
