  • From the Archives: Catch and Release

When the delicate fingers of a comic book store clerk find themselves pinned by the bear-paws of the lone straight-guy waiter from across the street, two hipsters find themselves in a quarrel as meaningless as the sex.

They were wrapped around each other, her tiny limbs across his giant thigh, her petite hand cupped in his massive one, fingers intertwined. He noted the difference in size. He was always noticing it. He had spent his entire life noticing that his hands were bigger than everyone else's.

"My hand could totally kick your hand's ass," he said. "You will be crushed." He made a noise that sounded like, "Rowr." He opened his hand wide and then moved it in toward hers. "Here comes the giant hand." He surrounded her hand with his.

Of course, the meaningless sex part is fun to read about…catch it all right here, in Jamie Attenberg’s 2006 piece “Catch and Release.”

  • In Other Blogs: Catching Up on the Weekend Gossip and Worrying About Bikinis

We begin with blog-a-logger FunkyBrownChick, who has a word or two on the faux pas of interracial dating and the scandalous details of her dominatrix sexcapades at a Manhattan watering hole.

Then it’s off to a Houston bachelor pad with Rose and Olive (and dual showerheads) where you can kick off your skivvies and break out the ole camera.

Since it’s the holiday season you can whittle away the work week by daydreaming of things you don’t need but will get anyway.  Here’s one!   Scanner informs us that iPods mean nothing in Richmond Hill, Queens where kids are pimping their BMX's with 5,000 watt stereos.  Training wheels not included.

In movie news, Jennifer Love Hewitt defends her “fatty” photos with a fervent statement on behalf of us un-waiflike women. “To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini – put it on and stay strong." Thanks, J. Love.  Speaking of boobs, this weekend saw the release of some pretty pictures from Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay featuring unicorns and Neil Patrick Harris.

And last but not least, Screengrab gives us some old-school entertainment with a Jessica Yu documentary that relives everyone’s favorite cheese-bus prank—slipping Sour Death Balls into an unsuspecting, candy-loving gullet.

And that about wraps up this Monday.  It’s nearing the cheeseburger hour!  Have fun.
