Shennanigans + boobs in the Suburban.

How best to describe Brandonland, Brandon Herman’s Nerve photoblog? I mean, there’s always the one word that springs (ahem) immediately to mind: dick. Cock. Men wearing shirts with no pants. Men peeing. Men skateboarding. Men doing yoga or making out with women or punching each other in the stomach. All with no pants.

In other words, a thing of beauty.

Brandon seems to capture the lifestyle of the young, impetuous, intrepid souls…people who find adventure wherever they go. And don’t mind urinating against a wall, or each other, on the way. Do you live in Brandonland?

I was watching the O'Reilly Factor yesterday morning with my grandma and they covered this story about this kid in Florida who was arrested for making his own grandmother perform in some gangsta rap videos he made. In some of the shots she's decked out in gang-banger attire, complete with bandana, baggy jersey and bling, and in others she's wearing a ski mask, waving a gun and money, and talking about shooting cops. O'Reilly was totally horrified, and he had some pretty blonde Republican chick on the show talking about how twisted the kid was as well, but personally I found it touching that gangsta rap had been the catalyst for some generation-gap-crossing grandmother-son bonding. It kind of made me want to make a rap video with my grandma.

And on the subject of rap:
I would encourage all of you readers to boycott Jay-Z. He's evil and I'm pretty sure that he is actually just a white person in blackface working hard to perpetuate black oppression and racism. The values that he instills in black youth are the equivalent of a million white kids looking up to Donald Trump. All he raps about is consumerism and its sad that he rots people's brains with such garbage. And it makes sense that he is marrying the whitest black woman on earth.

I got a splinter yesterday at the pool party I was at but I can't seem to get it out of my foot, so I think its just going to have to be permanent. Like a tattoo.

Today sucked

I've been really moody all day today. I woke up with a bad hangover and a downer attitude. I hate that. Sometimes I actually love hangovers because they slow everything down a bit and make everything seem kind of trippy. And you feel all fragile like you're made out of glass or something. As long as its not a throw-up hangover, I usually can enjoy it. But not this one. This one is a depressed, think of lots of reasons to hate myself hangover. Boo.

My younger sister is flying in tonight to visit me. She called the other day and said she hates college right now so I am flying her out for a couple days of me. What a nice brother huh? She was supposed to be here hours ago but she went all the way through security with no boarding pass, then obviously was sent back to the check-in counter, and by the time she got back through again she had missed her flight. What a dumb-dumb.

Tonight we'll drive out to the desert so that tomorrow we can go to this pool party Anthem mag is throwing for Coachella. It wouldn't be me if there wasn't a pool party involved, now would it?

I've been listening to these crazy mashups all day. Like ones where they combine forty different hit songs from the 90s all into one long continuous ass-kicking stereo slam-jam. Why is it that a bunch of songs I don't like can all be amazing when melded together into one mashup masterpiece?

Some highlights from today's mashup findings:
A mashup of "Hey Ya" by Outkast and "We Will Rock You" by Queen.
A mashup of one 80's pop hit song for every letter of the alphabet, all in alphabetical order.
A mashup of early nineties club classics that kicks off with that "What Is Love" song that the Roxbury brothers bob their heads to.

Hollywood Death Tour

So this producer from the Canadian TV company CHUMTV called me a few months ago and told me that he was going to come to LA and do a special on David Lynch and a special on me, which I was totally excited about because I love being on TV. They arrived last week, and they interviewed me a bunch, and then they wanted to see me in action so on Thursday night I took them out with a bunch of friends and we toured around to houses in Hollywood where famous murders had occurred and got drunk and naked a lot and took pictures. Check it out...

So here's me answerin' some questions about what it is that I do and why I do it. The sun was in my eyes and I was drunk and couldn't concentrate, so I'm sure I'll look like a total dumbass.

And here we are at the first stop of the night, the house where the famous Wonderland murders (involving porn star John Holmes) took place. And Morgan had to pee.

Remember back in December, when I was on that epic road trip across the forsaken lands of Northern Brazil? And I had all that good-looking company? Well, we edited and interviewed and demanded lots of money and new plane tickets and the lovely Jo is now the star of her very first official photo spread, even if it didn't happen all that officially in the beginning. It's one of my favorite stories that I've ever published, mostly because it took so long and the girl is just so very precious to me. It was a long trip, more than a month, and we really went just to go, not to take pictures. So the pictures are kind of a bonus, a continuous series of happy accidents.

Monica Mattos is a busy girl. Ever since the skinny Brazilian dark-haired beauty received her AVN trophy for best Foreign Female Performance, she hasn't stopped working. She is a sweet and well-mannered girl that loves to get fucked in the ass on film; one of the infinite versions of the Brazilian Girl Next Door, and a happy one at that. She won't tell you which directors she's worked for and which movies that she's made that week, but what she will tell you is that she's single again and goes on enthusiastically about the interviews that she's been giving on the Brazilian version of David Letterman, something that a porn star has never done in this country, which gives her a good reason to think about leaving for the first time for Hollywood, the land of Jenna Jameson and book deals and better implants.

We took her to see a Burlesque show at Loveland, a club in a swanky part of Sao Paulo, far away from where she now lives, in a working-class district with her mother. She had never set foot in the place, or in the neighborhood. We gave her first Cosmopolitan and the stripper asked to pose for pictures with her.

Then we went to her old neighborhood downtown to drink beer in a filthy lesbian bar, where the waitress passed her notes from delirious fans and many a drink was bought for her. She doesn't pretend to be nice to them, to you, or to anyone, she won't offer you anything other than that radiant smile and her beautiful ass. She's one of the most sincere people that we've ever met.

We bought more beer from the bodega on the corner and took photos of her on the stairways above the freeway, with people hanging out of the windows of the apartment buildings, and we made friends with the Mafioso skater boys that populate Roosevelt Square benches at night, where people fuck quietly and smoke joints while staring out at a Sao Paulo's non-existent skyline and listening to the traffic moan loudly beneath us. The city's huge curves and lights mirrored Monica's own in other dimensions, pulling her skirt over her ass, her two cell phones ringing the whole time, reveling in her pure and newfound pleasure in being single and alive at night in the city where she was born. She is Sao Paulo's Prom Queen.

But then she had to go, to catch the last train back to her mother's house on the other side of town, where she's living since she divorced her husband three months ago. We took one last photo, of her in the metro station, and kissed her on both cheeks and made plans to do it again next week.

Autumn starts us out with: Last night, after falling asleep on Luiza’s couch, I had a dream about Gia. Gia was my first girl, my first proper, Hollywood-style porn star from the valley. I’m the kind of girl that falls in love easily, especially with strippers, and Gia was stripping and I fell in love.

Rose + Olive remember: One time I waited naked in bed, waited on a man who had not ever known me to sleep in the nude. He came home and got into bed and noticed so slowly that I wasn't wearing anything. Noticed very very slowly that his skin was touching mine. …I will never ever forget being awake in the bed that night when he found my body—a body he knew relatively well—when he found my body anew. Today Autumn asks the hard questions (like, “Would you rather have good sex or write a good story about bad sex?”) and gifts us with the latest photos from her weeks’-long vacation. I don’t know why her gorgeous friend Flavia hung half-naked out their hotel window, but when you see the pictures you’ll be glad she did…

Siege answers the hard questions (like, “Are they real?”) and discovers the beautiful and curative effects of water. Two words: “wet ginger.”

Brandon is in Paris, recovering from his time in Amsterdam. He’s been hanging out with his fab punk-rock friend Susan, and, as usual, playing games with his boys…particularly one called “D*ck on the Face.” Yes, of course, there are pictures.

Rose & Olive have been playing with self-portraits. I’m not sure what Olive is eating in hers, but it looks juicy and delicious. Meanwhile, Rose transforms herself into a Real Doll in her guest bedroom. Sadly for her guests, she waited until they’d gone…

• Siege has been a busy boy. He captures Dania looking forlorn in her lovely party dress; Pauline looking pretty (and pretty bare) in a bare, wood-paneled room; and Mara posing for a Xmas portrait. Meanwhile, a mystery girl bathed in red light receives a close, pelvic inspection. And as far as holidays go, New Year’s Eve wasn’t all orgies and booze. Siege is down with the nerdy games and good conversation that can only occur between close friends.

• Autumn has gone and done us proud with her appearance on the cover of FS, a fancy-pants photogeek mag featuring self-portraits this month. Aside from that, she managed quite the wild holiday celebration, including naked lagoon-swimming and weenies (both kinds). We here at Nerve are quite jealous of all the traveling she did while we were visiting our parents and stuff.

• Brandon waxes nostalgic whilst visiting the fam over the holidays, but still manages to serve up plenty of cock and balls. He also treats us to New Year’s in London, with some surprisingly sexy potty shots.

• Christmas makes Chase all sorts of emotional, and so he presents us with some Christmas photos of yore. After a quiet yuletide, he gets back to work, finding himself happily infused with that good ol’ creative energy again.

• Autumn introduces us to her travel companion, as they head off into the wild. With company like this who needs civilization? They’re not completely cut off, though. Here, she treats us to a sort-of-behind-the-scenes series of photos starring…the makeup artist. Is today’s sexy makeup artist yesterday’s sexy pool cleaner?

• We’ve missed Brandon so much (six empty days makes us antsy; that’s what love is), and now he’s back with a special treat. The image he previously posted for that group show in Paris has finally been rendered 3D! Anyone have a pair of those trippy glasses?

• Chase is rocking our world with this picture. He’s described his most recent take on self-exploration…down there…as ”sex education the easy way.” The quasi-creepy retro-doll embellishment in the piece adds an especially intriguing dimension to the photo, as well as to the phrase “inner child.”

• Rose + Olive juxtapose their gorgeous prose with this gorgeous photograph that embodies the surrender inherent in desire. And because they’re feeling especially snap-happy today, we get to meet this dangerously beautiful lady, and also Addie, who is all sorts of bright and lovely in that vivid red dress of hers.

• Siege has been busy, building a new dreampod (where we’re sure some dreamy photo shoots will take place). Lucky for us, he’s putting his models to work: when they’re not moving heavy furniture, they’re posing pretty. Nice red light district, Siege.

• Chase goes retro, and you’ll be glad he did. He spends some time trying to recreate 1983, and “the late 70s porno magazines found in bushes and the woods.” Also, check out the lovely Pony, and the senior portrait she never had. She sure as hell has one now.

• Brandon visits the City of Lights, and sets up a 3D photo installation. Once you see the outtakes, you’ll wish you could fly to Paris and see it in 3D, too.

• Rose + Olive find that after a hard night of bartending, nothing cures your aches and pains like taking a long, hot shower…especially with a pretty stranger.

• Autumn gives us an insider’s look at fashion shoots…see how she risks her ass for fashion, literally. Plus, you’ll want to meet Autumn’s new friend, Patricia:

She’s writing a book on Brazilian Hip-Hop. Half of her vocabulary consists of dirty words. She likes to walk around bad neighborhoods and make friends with the drug lords and the heads of the evangelical Hell’s Angels. Regardless of all of that, she dresses like a Madison Avenue Princess. She wears these sort of frilly pastel dresses and kitten heels.

What do photobloggers do on weekends? Do they really live wild lives, filled with naked friends, frisky strippers, flexible ballerinas, an appreciation for the beauty of life, and…Storm Troopers?

Well, yes. Yes they do.

• Brandon started with weekend wondering why no one commented on his work. The people responded with much love, support, and demands for more naked interns.

Brandon takes feedback wonderfully, so over the weekend we got to see pics from his Halloween raging (love the Storm Trooper outfit, and the after-shots/after-sex face, Brandon). He also answered questions from the audience, including the gay/straight/bi question, as well as what happened to his naked intern?

• Siege continues to make good use of his new home, including the outdoor space and the lovely skylight. He spent Friday becoming better acquainted with, well, breasts…and a lovely lass (and ass) on a seal-skin rug. He also gives us new pictures of Lambchop and KT; proving once more that Siege’s family portraits are like no others.

• Autumn spent six hours in a car on Friday, but she made damn good use of that time. If you like legs, toes and feet (and playful biting), check out her pics here. Sunday was devoted to some heavenly strippers. As Autumn writes:

In Other (Photo) Blogs: What Happens in the Dreampod Stays in the Dreampod

• Just like the seasons, photo-artist Siege embraces change. This week he dismantled his Dreampod. (What’s a Dreampod, you wonder, and where can you get one? As Grant Stoddard described it, “With some colored gels, a few cameras and a harem of female friends, he created what he calls a ‘dreampod’ in his bedroom, a comfortable space where Siege and his friends are free to express themselves sexually and artistically.”) Siege found the letting go freeing, though as a good-bye he invites us to look back at some of the deliciousness that came from the pod. Apparently deliciousness comes in both hot and cold varieties.
