Al Franken Is For Real This Time, Seriously

Posted by Emily Farris

Hey, America, remember me? I'm Al Franken. You may have watched me on Saturday Night Live, way back when it was transitioning from funny to not funny. Since then I've written a few books, and I was really popular among Democrats around the 2004 elections with my show on Air America Radio. I know that many of you can't get that station, but it's really fun to listen to (until it gets depressing) and you can listen for free online. We used to make so much fun of George Bush and had some pretty interesting guests on. Anyway, I know I kind-of fell off the face of the earth for a while, but that's because I was preparing for my Minnesota Senate race. And I'm not joking like that douche Stephen Colbert. I'm for real. So I hope you'll take me seriously. I really do care about this country, and about politics, and I'm not just another pretty face with a good sense of humor. I mean, I went to Harvard for Christ's sake! Seriously, Minnesota, if you can put Jesse Ventura in office, you can elect me. Pretty please.

Joke all you want, but this race is in a dead heat and has been for more than a year... and that's not including the primary, the fact that the incumbent is a jackass, and that progressive hero Paul Wellstone held this seat until his death. I'd put money on Franken.
