Call Waiting With Bobby Tisdale: Amy Ryan Exclusive

Posted by Bobby Tisdale

As Scanner Bryan noted earlier today, Oscar nominations were annouced this morning. So I caught up with my friend, Amy Ryan, via telephone exactly sixteen seconds after she received a nod for her amazing supporting role in “Gone Baby Gone”. I’d been trying forever to get in touch with her—and with all the pre-Oscar buzz and her Golden Globe nomination, I was extremely lucky to get through.

Unfortunately for me, her phone was ringing off the hook, but I did manage to get a couple words in.

BOBBY:  How do you feel, Amy?! You must be freaking out right now?

AMY: Big time… Yeah, can I put you on hold for a second? That’s my publicist.

BOBBY: Sure, no problem. I can only imagine that your phone must be ringing off the hook and you need to take other calls- (she clicks over) … Amy? Amy, are you still there?

Five minutes pass

AMY: Sorry about that. My phone is ringing off the hook-

BOBBY: That’s exactly what I said! So Amy, what are you gonna wear to the-

AMY: Oh, shoot. Can you hold for just a sec? That’s my manager.

BOBBY: Absolutely. If there’s one thing I’m good at; it’s waiting. Once in high school I waited five hours for White Snake tickets- FIVE HOURS! (she clicks over) … Amy? I’ll just… um, wait here for…

Five seconds later

AMY: Bobby?

BOBBY: YES! I’m here! So, who are you taking to the Oscars?  Do you have-

AMY: Can I call you back?  Geez, I’m sorry Bobby. I know this sounds weird but that’s someone from another blog that I promised an interview with.

BOBBY: Of course… Don’t be silly. I know, this is my first blog post and all-

AMY: Super! Call ya back in an hour! Bye!

So, it’s been four hours and still no call from Amy. I guess she’s busy thinking about what she’s going to say to me. I’ll keep you posted.

(ED NOTE: This is about as real as "The Hill's," but Bobby really is friends with Amy. And she really is too busy to talk to him.)

I am super jealous of your having Amy Ryan's phone number.

Lucky bastard.

This means you're so cool that you've transcended the level of cool and are treated as a friend of the famous instead of someone to boost their status. That's a good thing right?
