Porn Star Sasha Grey Plays "Birthday Girl" and Sacrificial Lamb

Posted by Nicole Pasulka

Here's the video for the Roots song "Birthday Girl" starring 20-year-old AVN Performer of the Year 2008 Sasha Grey. The video brings the expected perving, and the anticipated criticism of our repressive, yet sex obsesssed media. According to Sasha:

"For me, it sends an interesting message," Grey said. "Our society is obsessed with using sex to market videos, films, music, campaigns, etc., etc., but yet porn is considered taboo and immoral. The concept of the video is a girl turning 18, and luring men to her because she's of age, and her sister isn't happy about it.

"The entire video is filled with sexual innuendos, which is quite normal," she went on. "It will be exciting to see how many viewers get angry that a porn star is playing the role of a young woman who is embracing her sexuality in a naughty way."

There's no better example of judgmental voyerism than this segment of The Insider featuring Ms. Grey.

We love how the clip invites viewers to "reach out to Sasha about the path she's chosen." We'd like to reach out to Pat O'Brien about his well-worn path to the tanning beds, but that's really none of our business.

Sasha Grey is one of the brightest and most level headed adult film stars I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Although it makes working with her somewhat inconvenient, it should be known that this girl is not only very picky about who she works with, but will not work with anyone who has not been through a full AIM test in the last 48 hours. Porn is a business and, although there are always exceptions, most people take their work seriously and take as many precautions as possible to stay clean and healthy - both in their business life and their personal life. Sasha is not some sad girl who needs to be saved - she is an excellent business woman who is making a shit ton of money and will most likely live a long, happy and healthy life.
