The Montana Meth Project Scares Us Straight

Posted by Emily Farris

For reasons we're not yet ready to disclose to the world at large, we've been doing quite a bit of research on Crystal Meth lately. A friend told us about the Montana Meth Project—an ad campaign aimed at keeping kids off the stuff—and we think it's a little more effective than "This is your brain on drugs" or "I Iearned it from watching you, Dad!" What do you think?

Holy shit! Now this is what I would call "scared straight" material. Excellent!

But is it wasted on its target audience?

I'm gonna say the first one's the best (scariest) but they're all good.  I'm not sure if I would be too much of an immortal-feeling douche at 16 to let them persuade me or not.  It's a good effort though.

The Regan era tried scared straight. It failed then, it will fail now. No kid is going to try their first hit in a filthy squat with a bunch of hardcore addicts. Combating drugs requires real information not this EC comics stuff.
