Hillary Andrews, Will You Lick My Swizzle Stick?

Posted by Katie Halper

Sexual harasser and meteorologist Bob Stokes asked co-anchor Hillary Andrews "Will you Lick My Swizzle stick*?" And that's a totally appropriate request, according to The Weather Channel.

I guess Hillary Andrews has no sense of humor. In good fun, co-anchor Stokes, asked Andrews to "lick my swizzle stick,"  leered at her chest, followed her into the women's dressing room, and questioned her "over and over again, non-stop" about her sex life. So whiny Andrews asked to be paired with a new anchor. And the Weather Channel responded admirably, giving Andrews the overnight shift and, ultimately, firing her. This is what the Weather Channel always does to the women who complain about Stokes, by the way. Yesterday Andrews won a sexual-harassment claim against Stokes, so least there's a "happy ending" (for Andrews, not for Stokes). The Smoking Gun has the scoop and the lawsuit.

Emily Farris writes about culture and food for numerous publications and websites you've probably never heard of, including her own blog eefers. Her first cookbook will be published in fall 2008. Emily lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with her cat, but just one . . . so far.

Bryan Christian has worked as a writer for Epicurious, GenArt and ID magazine; a web producer for WWD and Condé Nast; and a cameraman for his friends. He's married with roommate and lives in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.

Brian Fairbanks is a filmmaker living in the wilds of Brooklyn. He previously wrote for the Hartford Courant and Gawker. He won the Williamsburg Spelling Bee once. He loves cats, women with guns, and burning books.

Nicole Pasulka is a Brooklyn writer and editor who's always on the lookout for the dirty. Her other virtual home is at The Morning News, where things are squeaky clean most of the time.

Raised on the mean streets of New York City's Upper West Side, Katie Halper is a comic, writer, blogger, satirist and filmmaker. Her writing appears in The Huffington Post, Alternet, and Takepart.com.
