Scanner Roundtable: If We Tweet, Will You Follow?

Posted by Emily Farris

"Scanner Emily just downed half a box of Thin Mints, does not feel thin."

Hey Scanner Readers. Some of you out there are geeky enough to Twitter, right? You see, we've been trying really, really hard to avoid Twittering. After our drunken, ill-fated, misspelled attempt in Vegas we decided we were pretty much done with it. But we never deleted the account and have been secretly, quietly, shamefully "following" people. Now that we log on, say, once a day to find out what the Tweet is up, we're thinking about maybe, possibly trying it out in the real world. Because as we just learned, we have no power over Girl Scout cookies, and apparently none over technology either.  But, really, does anyone even give a flying Tweet?

I think a lot of people in KC were chowing down on those tasty treats today.  Never invite a cookie "pusher" to your party!

As for twitter, I am on it but haven't decided if I am staying.  It's good for things like last nights gathering (thanks for joining in BTW).  Cookies (and beer) are still better tho.

I don't Tweet but I do have some people's Twitter accounts bookmarked. I will certainly bookmark yours.

I tweet, but no, I wouldn't follow. I read this blog every morning; that's plenty.

I know a lot of people who have careers based on contacts they've made from Twitter.  It's an important staple in social media, for both business and fun.  It's not just a fleeting fad, which a lot of people think it is.

Either you get it or you don't, though.  It might not work for you, but I can't imagine not having it, or, more specifically, the professional and personal contacts that I've made on it.

That said, I'm kind of stunned that every Nerve staffer isn't on Twitter yet.  It seems strange to me that you all wouldn't be.
