BBC: Moobs Surgery on the Rise

Posted by Colleen Kane

This week, BBC News Magazine asked, "Just what is it about moobs?"

Plastic surgery operations on man boobs rose a whopping 44% in 2008. What's behind this trend?

The article attributes it partially to obesity, estimating anywhere up to a third of these operations are performed on obese men, but also to the rise of coverage of moobs in the media. It seems that now there are known terms for man boobs, it both frees up chesty men to address their issue and makes them more self-conscious about it. As the article begins by pointing out, women have long been subject to scrutiny over the most minor physical flaws, and now the men are having a taste.

I wasn't aware that there were known, media-friendly terms for man boobs. Now that I know I'll likely be more conscious about mine. SUPER.

Did anyone else notice that John Locke appears to have grown an entire cup size since last season?
