Katy Perry and Ellen Degeneres Sing "I Kissed a Girl"

Posted by Emily Farris

Last week while we were at SXSW and not sitting at home watching TV, Katy Perry (the girl who kissed a girl who is not Jill Sobule) went on Ellen Degeneres' show to appear in her Bathroom Concert Series. The duo sang—no surprise here—Perry's hit single "I Kissed a Girl." It was slightly uncomfortable to watch, and not just because one of them kisses a girl regularly. It appears Katy has a little trouble singing her own song.

Since I first heard about Perry's song I've wondered why no one ever mentions that Jill Sobule recorded a song forever ago with the same title.  I guess Sobule wasn't hot enough or her music marketable enough to become a hit like Perry's version.
