  • Just Because You Played a Cop on TV Doesn't Mean You Can Carry a Loaded Gun onto an Airplane

Actors who play doctors on TV are constantly complaining to late-night talk show hosts that people on the street often ask them for medical advice, and actors who play cops on TV are often treated as if they're cops (fear? respect? free donuts?), so it's no surprise that "Law & Order" alum Dennis Farina may have thought he could get away with carrying a loaded gun onto an airplane.

Except he did not get away with carrying a loaded gun onto an airplane.

  • NYC Oversharer To Blame Internet For Her Misery

    coworkerlady.jpg

Normally we'd feel a litle weird about posting the picture of someone who's allegedly engaging in a secret office romance with a coworker. Like, we don't know who this person is, or what her story is, and God knows it's between her and her bedmate whatever happens between them. Except, as Gawker reports today, when she goes and blabs loudly about it at the airport...

  • "Law and Order" Hunk Leaves Show; Portly, Underappreciated Former Comedian Likely to Replace

Time was that replacing actors on the Law and Order mothership was like rearranging snow on an iceberg: it'd keep moving just fine, thank you very much. But is that still true today, with the show not anchoring the NBC lineup the way it used to? Guess we'll see, since Jesse L. Martin -- who we've always imagined literally leaping straight from his singing-and-dancing role in Broadway's Rent to playing L&O's Detective Ed Green in 1999 -- will be leaving the show at the end of the current season. Wasn't he supposed to play Marvin Gaye in a biopic or something? Well, maybe that's why he's out.

Martin is rumored to be replaced by Anthony Anderson, who we never saw on The Shield -- we're not that far in our Netflix queue yet -- but was decidedly better than his material on Fox's most-likely-canned-but-in-limbo K-Ville, which we watched because, well, the Missus wanted to support her hometown. Like we say, Anderson was great -- but that show didn't make us think about post-Katrina New Orleans so much as think about how much we miss Fastlane. And that ain't no kind of good.

  • I Hate Myself for Loving You: "Law & Order: SVU" Bad Guys

We've been crushing on them since we were 18 and a bartender we knew played a rapist. Why does "Law & Order" have to find such good looking people to be the bad guys? They just get hotter and hotter, too. Last night, we creamed our pants over Cole Roddick, a street gang "father" who killed six people. Never have we so badly wanted to fuck a homeless person.

UPDATE: We're very sad to report that the clip we found featuring the character Cole Roddick has disappeared. We can't find any information on the guest star's real name so at this time we can't post a hot picture of him. Anyone know? Thanks.

UPDATE II: Thanks, Dreaded Rhubarb. The sexy man in question is Thom Bishops.

  • Hey Everybody, I Just Bong-Bonged Myself Into a Stupor!

Normally at this time of year, I, Scanner Bryan, would have spent the last couple days giving myself a couple massive hangovers and then surviving them via Gatorade, Chinese takeout, and OTC painkillers (well, OTC if you're in Canada). But this year, I wound up with an inordinate amount of stuff to do around the house over New Year's break, meaning that the only thing I'm thankful to have survived in the last 2 days is TNT's 36-hour Law & Order marathon, of which I believe I saw approximately 176%. Honestly, I'm not even the biggest fan of the show, so I'm not entirely sure how I wound up seeing so much of it while re-organizing my bathroom, assembling Ikea furniture, and cooking pigeon peas to celebrate the holiday. (They were out of black-eyed peas.) Actually, towards the end, I think I was inventing things to do in front of the TV just to avoid walking away, which distressed both my wife and myself. Thankfully, the marathon is over as of a couple hours ago, giving me the closure that I was unable to give myself. Did I learn anything? My debriefing (heh) follows.
