  A jello wrestling competition, performed strictly by girls in bikinis, held as part of an end-of-the-term drinking marathon known as Suicide Sunday, descended into chaos and bloody violence after one girl turned into a big-time sore loser... According to the Daily Mail, a student of Cambridge University in England, lost her shot at 250 pounds in prize money, thanks to spectators who voted her the defeated party in one match. • Paper of Record Loves Violence, Hates Sex?

  Well, what else are we supposed to assume when the New York Times will feature a report by economists detailing how violent films might be good for us... A paper presented by two researchers over the weekend to the annual meeting of the American Economic Association here challenges the conventional wisdom, concluding that violent films prevent violent crime by attracting would-be assailants and keeping them cloistered in darkened, alcohol-free environs. ... but -- as far as we can tell -- fails to cover a recent report arguing that smut might have a similar inoculating effect?
