She's Just Not That Into You. Or Is She?

Why is there not a book or movie called "She's Just Not That Into You?" Well, in addition to the fact that, according to society, women are crazy and pine for potential partners in a way that men apparently don't, it might not be so easy to discern whether a woman is into you or not. All the signs may be there when it comes to reading men, but until someone writes a book on it, there's no way to tell with women.

According to a new study, men are much more obvious when it comes to showing signs of attraction. So a woman might not show it if she's into you, but on the other hand, she may look interested when, in fact, she's not.

Skyler Place, a doctoral student at Indiana University who authored the study, picked 28 women and 26 men to observe speed dating videos to determine which men were attracted to which women and vice versa. In many cases, he said, a woman looked like she was being flirtatious, but wasn't really interested in the man she was flirting with.

"Overall, the men are easier to read on average," Place said. "The hardest-to-read women are harder to read than the hardest-to-read men."

We can honestly say, in our own experience, we know we have not helped matters. And we are sorry.

There are about twenty-five laugh-out-loud moments in this video for us, which are all funnier than anything Andy Samberg has done since Chris Parnell stopped making SNL parodies with him.

Is a major fox like Jennifer Connelly still hot even if she drops down to 83 pounds?

A picture of her in the good ol' days provides unquestionable evidence of her basic and amazing hotness:

Film School Rejects argues that Jennifer Connelly is too skinny to be hot these days, and cites "Requiem For A Dream" as the last appearance of her sex appeal. (We, on the other hand, wonder how anyone can remember any of "Requiem," which we've blocked out like the time we saw our friend's ancient mother swimming topless.)

Thandie Newton, on the other hand, hasn't gotten the Rejects excited since "M:I 2," one of the unintentionally funniest movies ever made. (Forgive us for having blocked out her presence there, as well.) We did manage to arouse a little interest in her during "Crash" in 2005, although admittedly she was only a few pizza burgers beyond an exoskeleton.

What do we think? Are these chicks still hot, even without some curves to keep things interesting?

Dave Stevens, Creator of The Rocketeer and Bettie Page Revivalist, Dead at 52

We were saddened today to learn of the death last week of comics artist Dave Stevens, from leukemia at age 52. Some of you may have known Stevens' work largely from his creation of The Rocketeer, which was turned into an (underrated) action film by Disney and special-effects whiz Joe Johnston in 1991. What you might not know, however, is that his use of Bettie Page as the inspiration for The Rocketeer's racy-yet-wholesome girlfriend Jenny -- surely you remember a just-this-side-of-fetish Jennifer Connelly going "Rocka-who?" -- turned lots of people on to Page's ever even existing. So, if you've ever been a fan of good girl art or hot chicks with bangs, you probably owe him a debt of gratitude. You were married at one time?

Yeah. She wasn't a stripper. When I knew her, she was an exotic dancer. Then she became a model for Penthouse and several others — Playboy, and did some Playboy Channel stuff and became an actress. Since then I think I've only been involved with maybe one or two other girls who were actually models or actresses.

See, we weren't kidding about that fetish comment.
