...if it's true, of course.

In the months since their first show in decades, Led Zeppelin has been the subject of dozens of rumors about billion-dollar tours, new lead singers, new albums, and in-fighting among its original members. Now all that appears to have been brushed aside and the band is about to unveil its actual new singer, which is great news for the music business...

From bassist John Paul Jones:

"As you probably know, Jimmy, Jason, and I are actually rehearsing and we've had the odd singer come in and have a bash. As soon as we know -- which we don't -- we will let you know. But we really hope that something is going to happen soon because we really want to do it and we're having a lot of fun, actually, just rehearsing. Jason is actually tremendous. . . We really wanna do something and Robert doesn't want to do this, at least for the moment. I don't really know what his plans are. He really doesn't want to make loud music anymore. We do. I mean, I love acoustic music, but it doesn't stop me from turning something up . . . And what we've done so far sounds absolutely fantastic. When it does come, it will come, and you'll know about it."

Here's the singer the rumor mill believes is about to be offered the job, having rehearsed with the band over the past weeks:

Think about it: the only decent replacement for Robert Plant, right? For example, picture Steven Tyler doing the end of "Stairway to Heaven" ("and she's buuuyyying...") and then try to picture anyone besides his predecessor pulling it off without sending us all into fits of uncomfortable laughter. We can also picture him finding the right balance of matching Plant's recorded performance and bringing his own personality to the proceedings.

Plus, as evidenced on the bootleg of Zeppelin's reunion show last year, Plant can't really carry those songs anymore. Will Tyler be able to?

Minnesota Public Radio put together two separate shows for V-Day. The first is five separate hours of great love songs (The Jayhawks, "Shelter From the Storm," Sam Cooke, etc.) and the second is, well, for haters (Wilco, Pulp, Patsy Cline, Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker.")

If you can get past the sometimes annoying between-song patter (we're spoiled by internet radio), this will put you in whatever mood you want today.

In case anyone was wondering if Led Zeppelin was going to do a reunion tour in the U.S. (and by anyone we mean those of you who admitted to having "done it" to Zeppelin, and yes, that includes us — but not Scanner Bryan) after their highly reviewed London show, it's unlikely. Robert Plant plans to tour with country singer Alison Krauss in May, leaving American fans of "the aging rockers" with only shattered dreams and CD's for doin' it.

Admit It: You've Done It to Zeppelin

As you no doubt know, last night was the big Led Zeppelin reunion show in London, and the press is going nuts over it, calling it "enormous, nasty, [and] glorious," which frankly makes us wish we were a Zeppelin reunion show. You know, between this and the My Bloody Valentine reunion next year, we're thinking of moving to London; anyone got a couch we can crash on for, like, ever? Anyhow, Stereogum's got a full set list and some brief video clips from last night's show, 10 Zen Monkeys has a rundown of the Zep ethos (the less said about the mudfish, the better) -- and we've got a question:

How many of y'all done it to Zeppelin? We feel like "Zep IV" is one of the great doing-it records of all time. Is that true? Not that we've used it ourselves, you understand. Whenever we do it to music, we find ourselves adopting the beat, and then we start to wonder what beat that is, and then we wish we'd had drum lessons when we were young, and then we wish we'd done anything constructive with our youth, and then we're all like "this isn't sexy, this is pitiful" and we turn off the music and get back to business.

But you guys probably don't have such wack OCD-type issues, right? So? Zep? Doing it? Music? Thoughts? Other candidates?
