Last week, while we were taking the dog out for a poo, a man standing in the driveway of the apartment building next door said "Can I have your number?" There was no "Hi, my name is...." There wasn't even a "Hi." We wondered in what world he thinks he can approach women like that and actually get the response he wants. Instead of giving him that speech, we just said "no," gave him a disgusted look and gushed over our poopy puppy. Apparently we weren't the only ones wondering what these men are thinking. As the ladies at Jezebel asked, after a New York Times article on talking to boys about sex, how do you keep boys from becoming [::sigh::] "that creepy guy on Nerve?" [Jezebel]

We've never suffered from a shortage of reasons to love Paul Rudd: he's cute, he's hilarious, and he's been certifiable crush material ever since we watched him croon to the Cranberries in Clueless. But some new details have emerged regarding Paul's personal proclivities which have left us officially over the moon...

According to Page Six:

"He always liked to get naked. Anybody that lived in his fraternity house would tell you. And yes, he is a frat boy, no matter how much he would go screaming from that now," [says] sportscaster Joe Buck, an old friend of Rudd...Buck adds that the butt-slapping, gun-shooting dance Rudd did while hosting "Saturday Night Live" with Beyonce last November used to be his preferred method of exiting a room.

I was on a date a few years ago and mentioned that I'd been enjoying the then-recently released DVD of Freaks And Geeks: The Complete Series. My date took me aback by rolling her eyes to the skies and murmuring about her lustful tendencies toward one Jason Segel. My response: "You mean the fat guy who plays the drummer?"

I quickly recovered by saying I was "joking" and that I was just a bit surprised since James Franco is much more attractive and sports a tight leather jacket throughout. (Seth Rogen was on the show, too, but who could have then predicted that he would be the sex symbol of 2009?) My date imparted a piece of knowledge which I have not forgotten: "Jason Segel is a sexy, sexy man."

The New York Post and other tabloid rags would have done well to have figured that out before 99% of the culture did, sometime between Freaks and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which featured Segel's famous full-frontal nude scene...

Here's what the Post had to say about the premiere of "I Love You, Man," one of these straight-guy/bromance movies that will hopefully be done away with at Hollywood's earliest convenience:

JASON Segel, sex symbol? The 6-foot-4 comic had a gaggle of female admirers at the Cinema Society screening of "I Love You Man" the other night, including a model who told him she was disappointed the flick didn't feature a full-frontal scene as did his "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." Quipped Segel: "I kept whipping it out, but they wouldn't put it in." Also at the Soho Grand after-party thrown by Details were co-stars Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones, plus Edward Norton, Parker Posey, Bee Shaffer and Eric and Kimberly Villency. [NY Post]

Many of you have by now seen the "naked" Vanity Fair shoot by Annie Liebowitz, featuring the men they're calling Comedy's New Legends: Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, and Jonah Hill. What with the hairless nude suits, the pudge, and the lack of genitalia, they're oddly cherubic.

But have you seen the honest-to-God, bare-ass naked guy who spent most of Sunday on the cross on top of a church?

Sacreligious and probably crazy, but dude is in shape. The full monty shots (forbidden on this blog), can be seen here.

This man climbed to the top of the cross in Los Angeles, who was up there for almost seven hours, creating a huge scene: disrupting traffic while threatening to jump, and smearing feces on the cross. Firemen and police inflated an air cushion in case he jumped, but the man eventually climbed down on his own accord. According to news reports, he's probably being evaluated at a psychiatric hospital right now.

Lindsay over at VideoGum introduced us* yesterday to what may in fact be the most hilariously-bad-but-awesome movie we've never seen. It's called The Room.

Spurred on by a four-page Entertainment Weekly article covering the cult phenomenon, Lindsay reeled us in and left us flabbergasted. How is it that we've never seen this movie? Who is this multi-tasking director and lead actor with the mysterious accent, Tommy Wiseau? How can we get Paul Rudd to come over and watch it with us right now, naked?

We mention Paul Rudd only because according to EW, The Room counts him -- among others, including Kristen Bell, Jonah Hill, and Arrested Development's David Cross -- as its devout fans. We feel obligated to share VideoGum's hard work with you here -- because in this case, seeing really is believing. And we'd set up the clips, but we don't even know the context and as far as we can tell, it's really not necessary.

Are you a believer? Because we* sure are.

*Disclaimer: We say "we" only because Scanner itself hasn't yet written about this sleeping hit of the silver screen, which isn't to say that one of the individual Scanner entities isn't already familiar with its genius. Confession: we sort-of want to see Role Models and not only because we want to make sweet, sweet love to one of its stars, Paul Rudd. The movie is centered around Rudd's character Danny, and his friend Wheeler (Seann William Scott) who end up doing community service in a mentoring program after an energy drink fueled bender (really?) left a company truck trashed.

Anyway, apparently boobs (er, "boobies") play a big part in the movie, so the marketing geniuses behind its promotion have put together The Mammary Game, basically an online boob-matching game.

Last week we told you all about how we got finger banged by Michael Ian Black at summer camp. You might have guessed it was a lie. While he did finger bang some girl named Emily at his summer camp, it was not us or our summer camp. In fact, we had some pretty mild summers, sexually speaking. That's why we want to live vicariously through you. What's the dirtiest thing you ever did at summer camp?

"Wet, Hot, American Summer"... the Musical?

We're not huge fans of Broadway around here. We had the acting "bug" in our system for a while in high school and we may have been voted "best actress" in our senior class. A love of theater may have been about 3.06 per cent responsible for our move to New York at age 18 and at one time, we may have referred to ourselves as "Rentheads" (but at that time our eyeliner was thicker than our eyebrows and we may have also dated a few guys with goatees). However, about seventeen minutes after moving to the big city, we quickly flushed the acting bug from our system, never to suffer from it again. What we're saying is, there was a time when our tastes were, um different. We thought getting dressed up and going to a Broadway show was exciting. Now we pretty much avoid Times' Square like The Plague and if someone is visting and is just dying to see a musical, it always seems to work out that we have an important meeting—because bloggers have lots, and lots, and lots of important meetings to go to. Seriously.

That said, if "Wet, Hot, American Summer," the greatest movie ever made about a summer camp that's so bad its good, is made into a musical, we're busting out the eyeliner and finding a date with a goatee. Seriously, kids, that movie is the reason we became summer camp counselors at 25 (but don't tell, or we might lose our gig this summer).
