And we thought it was just us that heard this annoying rejection line all the time.

Come Ons: What Is The DEAL?

We've decided to live by the old adage "when life gives you Come Ons, make comeoneade." So we are going to share with you the best and worst Come Ones we have experienced first-hand or observed. But first a few thoughts and reflections on the nature of the Come On. The Man-on-the street Come On is but one of the many Come On genres. Man-on-the-street Come Ons can be divided into three categories: (1) Innocuous, (2) "I feel dirty"-inducing, (3) Flattering.

The innocuous Come One is the most common one. It is annoying, but not offensive. It can range from "hey gorgeous" to "smile!" to "daaaaaaaaamn." Individual men will utter the innocuous Come On but they are most often said by one man to another man or to a group of men with whom he is walking.

The second most common Come On is the repulsive Come On. These often involve physical gestures, but not blowing a kiss, which would fall under the Innocuous category. These gestures often involve tongues and/ or fingers, and miming. But these Come Ons can also be statements and are most often suggestions, or commands. This category of Come On actually induces a feeling of guilt in the innocent recipient. The woman, who has done nothing inappropriate, may, never the less, feel dirty.

The third Come On is the best and, of course, rarest. While the first two often come from older men and men demonstrating unfavorable characteristics, the Flattering Come On must come from someone attractive and must be subtle and innocent enough to border on non-Come On behavior. This can be a "hello," "hi" a smile, or even held eye contact.
