Seth Rogen Dipped His Toes in the Sea of Porn, Decided to Go For a Swim

Seth Rogen must have had a little too much fun making Zack and Miri Make a Porno (which we haven't seen but our mom just loved), because he's now trying to develop a "porno-based" comedy for Showtime.

Rogen and production partner Evan Goldberg are developing a comedy series for the pay cabler about three twentysomethings who learn about life and love while running a pornography shop.

Rogen and Goldberg will exec produce the as-yet untitled project.

Matthew Bass, who is credited as an assistant to both comedy filmmakers on "Pineapple Express" and "Superbad," will pen the script and co-exec produce.

Wow, what a departure from everything else Seth Rogen has done!

But really, who are we kidding trying to make fun of this guy? We'd do him in a second....

Minnie Driver publicly thanked the biggest bunch of airheaded surfer dudes for their heroic efforts after video aired of the beach bums pounding some paparazzi into submission. The very pregnant Driver was trying to enjoy a day on the beach when privacy-invading photographers swept in with their long lenses. There's a new movie playing in London about a boat orgy that ends when one guy hits a girl in the back of the head during sex and kills her. The title? "Donkey Punch," of course.

Saturday's Blue Jays game was apparently not Bobblehead Doll Day, as advertised, but rather Topless Blond In A Hotel Overlooking The Field Day. The Ottawa Sun, which broke the story, has a full rundown of other similar incidences at the Renaissance Inn:

Katherine Heigl Drops Out of the Emmy Race?

Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl — who won a best supporting actress Emmy last year for her role as Izzy Stevens on the show — has greatly decreased her chances of winning one this year by, uh, removing herself from the race completely. And it appears to be a big "fuck you" to the writers.

Apparently, Heigl just didn't think her role was good enough.

"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention," Heigl told L.A. Times columnist Tom O' Neil. "In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials," she added.

Now, we're not in the television industry so we don't really know how things work. But we are writers, and we do know that writers have pretty large egos. So we won't be surprised if Izzy finds herself back in that trailer park next season with a crack habit, bad acne and three-inch roots.

Is US Weekly Being Sexist?

Yesterday we joked that we were no better than US Weekly. Now we're beginning to rethink that statement (not that we ever took it too seriously).

US is currently running a poll on their website asking if Katherine Heigl is "being ungrateful" for talking to Vanity Fair about her perception that Judd Apatow's "Knocked Up" was a little sexist.

We kind-of feel like if ~~the tables were turned and~~ George Clooney was going around saying that some movie he was in was "a bit misogynistic" US would be praising him for speaking up for women or some shit. But that's just us...

When we saw "Knocked Up" over the summer, we had just broken up with a stoner boyfriend who too closely resembled Seth Rogen's character, Ben. So much so, that while we got a few laughs over the freakishly hairless prosthetic vagina, we probably had far too much of an emotional reaction to the movie. We kept saying to ourselves and others, "That story does not end that way." Because, in our experience, it did not. A few months later, when "Knocked Up" came up in conversation (and it most certainly did on many occasions), we were able to have a less emotional, more critical opinion -- chiefly, why would a smart, successful, beautiful, single woman keep the baby of a smelly stoner she only screwed because she was drunk? Apparently, the film's female lead, Katherine Heigl, agrees. In the January issue of Vanity Fair, she says she thought the movie was "a little sexist" and said, “It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys." True that, Kate.
