Vegas Presents The Erotic Heritage Museum

A few weeks back, The Erotic Heritage Museum, dedicated to porny art, opened in Las Vegas.

Now that we've had time to look over some of its exhibits, we present a full rundown for your titillation...

Here are some of our favorite images, all from currently-featured artists:

The Museum was founded by Harry Mohney, an "Erotologist" (is that sort of like a proctologist, but with an even greater love of anal?) and Ted McIlvenna. They have scoured permanent collections the world over to bring you "the very best of erotic art." Their museum claims

celebrating our erotic heritage is one of the great spiritual movements of our time. To that end, the Exodus Trust [which houses the museum] is dedicated to seeking out, evaluating, acquiring and preserving sexual artifacts for future generations.

For the priviledge of leering at all this fine, fine art, you'll be charged $15 admission. Of course, seniors get in for $12...

Going Too Far? Japan's Poop Museum

Anyone who knows us knows there's really no such thing as going too far. We're always the ones to "go there" or divulge just a little bit too much information. We're probably far too comfortable talking about our own poop, and we just bought a fresh copy of "Everyone Poops" to read to the girls in our bunk at camp next week. So we're just as surprised as you are that we're totally grossed out by Japan's poop museum.

According to the blogger who happened upon this place, the above sign says:

Everybody come and play! Come and look! We have poop books!

Okay, so we're actually a little less grossed out knowing it's more about animal poop than human poop. Animal poop and baby poop we can handle, but human adult poop? Great that you do it, you can even tell us about it, but we don't want to see it.

Here's what you'll find: former lovers' fuzzy handcuffs, former lovers' glass horse, former lovers' "I love you" teddy bear -- all representing, in the words of one teddy bear owner, "WHAT A LIE! LIES, DAMN LIES!"

But probably the strangest things we can imagine stumbling across in the traveling museum founded in Croatia and dedicated to broken hearts, are these:

Prosthetic limb that "endured longer than our love" and an ax that a scored lover describes as his "therapeutic instrument." Yeah, really confused as to why these two relationships didn't last.

New Sex Exhibit in France... For Kids

Until the sixth grade, we thought a blow job was something one did to a car, like a lube job. And when we were eight or so and said something about sex, and Mom asked, "Do you even know what sex is?" and we responded with, "Yes, when a boy puts his penis in a girl's vagina," she told us we were wrong. So we were pretty confused about sex for a good deal of our youth. No one ever talked to us about masturbation, or sex beyond "use a condom" and/or "don't do it until you're in love and/or married." Even with all that confusion, or maybe because of it, we were the last in our circle of high school friends to lose our virginity. But if our local science museum had an exhibit on sex, romance, self-love and puberty, we would have been spared some awkwardness and confusion in our early sexual activity—and our parents could have still avoided the topic.

At least the French are getting it right.

A new exhibit at the Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie science museum is aimed at youngsters age 9-14 and is supposed to teach children about sex in a way that they can digest, with colors, graphics, cartoons, and plain talk. And it sounds like fun for all ages to us:

The characters treat sexuality with humor and sometimes sarcasm. There is a "love-o-meter" to measure the strength of romantic feelings, a "pubermatic" that shows bodies transformed during puberty, and a pinball machine where tiny balls in the shape of sperm race for eggs.

However, adults are encouraged to respect children's space while they explore the exhibit. And hopefully answer any questions they have when they leave.

In a "teenagers" corner, an area isolated by curtains, the curious can put on headphones to get answers to questions such as, "I have one breast bigger than the other, is that normal?" "What is masturbation?" and "I'm afraid to have my period, is it painful?"

Sounds about 69 times better than the terrible graphics in health class or the awkward conversation we never had with our mom. Vive la France!
