Paraguay Has Its Very Own Bill Clinton-Style Sex Scandal

This post marks the first time we've ever linked to Al Jazeera, at least that I can recall. Not that we're afraid of what Sean Hannity and his McCarthyite followers might say.

Rather, the famed Arabic news service is rarely one to break major sex scandals... until now. And we're glad we didn't miss this one like Fox News already has, because it has three classic scandal plot points...

1) Fernando Lugo, the President of Paraguay, has admitted to fathering a child out of wedlock with Viviana Carrillo, who was not even his girlfriend at the time.

2) The boy is almost two, making the woman 24 and and Lugo 55 at the time of conception.

3) Lugo was technically still a Roman Catholic bishop at the time he knocked up the young woman. He was staying with her at her godmother's house when their sexual relationship began, culminating in the birth of the boy almost a year before he won the Presidency. So, he didn't knock anybody up while in office (that we know of), but don't forget that the Pope had actually turned down his request be relieved of the vows of celibacy-- even after the boy's birth. (Pope Benedict eventually gave in.)

This all only came to light when the woman was forced to file a paternity suit against the Paraguayan President-- he thought he could pull a John Edwards up until the last minute. More via Al Jazeera.

Because of a much-discussed state law, administrative advisers for Colorado's school newspapers are only allowed to offer suggestions and guide staffers along, while the kids make the final decisions.

This may be why the state's Arapahoe High School was able to publish an edition of their paper devoted to teen relationships, i.e. promiscuous sex...

According a local NBC news affiliate, the most recent issue of the Arapahoe Herald was devoted to the subject:

"Player spills inside details," features the sexual escapades of a male student.

"I constantly [get sex] even though I have a girlfriend," said the boy who assumed the fictitious name of Trey Costanda. He is also quoted saying, "The easiest way to get girls is to get them drunk, but that's not right."

"First of all, why would you print that in the school newspaper?" 18-year-old senior Jeff Malaterre asked. "Parents could get upset at the school for publishing something like that."

The other controversial profile in the article featured the story of an openly promiscuous girl, who assumed the fictitious name of Marie Cullen.

"You have to give boys what they want," she said in the article, "My main weapons are my [breasts]."

Cullen also talks about having eight sexual partners and details her first sexual experience.

Cullen... Cullen? From where could this young lady have lifted her moniker? Hmmm...

Seriously, could it be that the abstinence theme of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight books has, like all abstinence "programs" and general grandstanding, backfired and turned teens into irresponsible sexual, well, vampires?

Not this time... and that's a welcome change. After all, aren't you beyond bored with the perennial sex surveys that trash our Puritan nation's filthy, condom-buying pervs? Not this time: suck it, Australia, Germany, and the rest!

But not literally, of course, since we're prudes compared to you guys...

Here are the Top 15, according to research published in this week's New Scientist by a professor at Bradley University:

The survey queried 14,000 people in 48 countries on their life's worth of sex partners and one night stands, plus a respondent's general attitude toward casual sex and getting it on in general. Particularly interesting is this excerpt from a story about this story in the Times:

The high scores in many Baltic and eastern European states might be linked, Schmitt said, to the fact that women outnumber men and so are under more pressure to conform to what men want in order to find a mate. In Asian countries, by contrast, men tend to outnumber women slightly, so it is men who have to conform.

That doesn't sound very scientific to us, but we'll take it...

Even Sex Fairs Are Weirder In China

Over the past few days, China held one of its "wildest" sex fairs, the Guangzhou Sex Culture Festival highlighted cultural artifacts like "condoms" and "sex toys" to the bafflement of many attendees...

Seriously, it sounds like your typical sexfest, except for a choice word that threw us for a loop:

This year's festival features activities ranging from talks on birth control such as condoms to sex toys, a photo show on sexual health and eugenics, forums on sexology, quizzes and lingerie shows.

Ahead of the festival, sexologists gave a series of lectures to middle school and college students, as well as migrant workers. The goal was to improve sexual knowledge and awareness of safe sex, said Zhang Feng, chief of the Guangdong Provincial Commission of Population and Birth Control.

By the way:

–noun (used with a singular verb) the study of or belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population, esp. by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics).

We were a bit disturbed by the inclusion of eugenics, but what should we have expected, seeing that this is China we're talking about?

A six-month survey of 65 such workers found 45 unmarried people aged 18 to 25 had premarital sex. The study also found that the migrants changed sex partners more frequent than local urbanites, said Zheng Lixin, deputy head of the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Birth Control Science and Technology.

"Migrants showed greater tolerance toward sex and were more liberal with sex partners," Zheng said.

Isn't it the same in the US? The unwashed masses are the liberals, with their babymaking and welfare moms, and the pristine conservatives having exactly 2.5 children and waiting until their affairs to have intercourse?

Promiscuity among migrants, which had caused sexual and reproduction problems, was endangering the reproductive health of this group of people, warned Zheng, who didn't elaborate.

Yes, because promiscuity among the upper classes never cause sexual and reproduction problems. Keep on keepin' on, China....

The top diocese of the Catholic Church in England and Wales knows how to attract publicity, even for scholarly texts about exorcism: listing the top ways to avoid him having to perform it on your punk ass...

Highlights of the excerpts we've gleaned:

"Among the causes of homosexuality is a contagious demonic factor.
"Even heterosexual promiscuity is a perversion; and intercourse, which belongs in the sanctuary of married love, can become a pathway not only for disease but also for evil spirits."

He also said that Satan is responsible for having blinded most secular humanists to the "dehumanising effects of contraception and abortion and IVF, of homosexual 'marriages', of human cloning and the vivisection of human embryos in scientific research." Extreme secular humanism, "atheist scientism", is comparable to "rational satanism" and these are leading Europe into a dangerous state of apostasy. Well, we're beyond fucked-- repenting now, we'd spent the rest of our lives saying Hail Mary's just for the first 27-odd years.

Sex on the Beach: In Dubai, That's 6 Years in Prison

A British woman who got drunk, had sex (with a stranger? twice?) on a beach, and assaulted a police officer in Dubai is facing up to six years in prison. And her willing partner may face the same harsh, Midnight Express-esque realities himself...

The woman, said to be 30, was arrested after a police officer reportedly twice found her having sex with a British man on Jumeirah Beach.
She has reportedly been charged with having sex outside marriage, indecent behaviour in public, being drunk in public and assaulting a police officer.

Because Britain has no extradition agreement or prisoner transfer agreement with Dubai, which would mean she would have to serve her sentence in the Middle Eastern state's prison. Oooh, Billy.

The FCO's website says that public displays of affection are frowned upon in the UAE and there have been several arrests for kissing in public. Sex outside marriage is illegal, as is cohabitation, adultery and homosexual behaviour.

If the UAE is striving to attract English tourists, as they claim to be, stories like these are not going to help.

We Call B.S. On: Controversial Google Screenshot

We're going to call bullshit on this one: a 17-year-old Digg reader claims he took a screenshot of a Google search his girlfriend did and has now posted it on the popular website. It is prom season, although we're not sure that gives lends any more credence to this...

Here is the offending screenshot.

Dude... let's have a man-to-man talk now about how to be a boyfriend. Rule Number One: never violate your girl's privacy! This posting, if was real, is very uncool, dude. Just because you're anonymous doesn't mean your story isn't going to get big enough that someone will care to find out your real name, then your girlfriend's, and humiliate the both of you. We are refraining from it, but that won't stop anyone else.

Digg users were torn about evenly between belief and disbelief:

This is Digg. you most definitely don't have a girlfriend, and surely not one you were able to get pregnant.

Dude, your girlfriend is pregnant! No more World of Warcraft for you! Your life is over!

I suppose it is better than actually having the baby at your prom... (new definition to doing "the bump')

This is like that friend everyone has that bullshits a story to make it sound better. Buried.

Meanwhile, the original poster strenuously denies the allegations of both fabrication and World of Warcraft Worship. Meanwhile, we move on to more important things, such as... um... don't worry, we'll find something...

P.S. The #1 reason we think it's bullshit: look at the top right hand corner when you click on the photo... it says the search result was only "I'm pregnant" not the whole phrase that's in the searchbox... in other words, at the very least, someone added a few of the words after the fact. B.S.!

My Year Beats Your "Le Weekend"

Canada has just broken new ground in the ongoing sexual revolution (which began with the invention of rectal thermometers in 1342) with a new daily dosage of Cialis. Yes, "Le Weekend," as Europeans call the 24-36 hour anti-impotence drug, is now "Le Year," as this new version means men can be "spontaneous" and get boners all day long. Great-- just what we need... sex day and night. Yawn.

Seriously, folks, the nearly-four-dollar pills (or $185,498.45 if you're using American money) are a breakthrough, especially for men recovering from prostate cancer surgery. For the rest of us, we'll take a page from Lou Reed, who famously wrote "My week beats your year." Well, our weekend beats your year, Frenchie. Yep, the youth of France are complaining that they can't afford their own apartments thanks to discriminatory hiring and firing laws enacted last year, and have resorted to having sex in their parents'... beds?

The poster above is part of their uncomfortable little campaign, basically based around the idea that if you don't let your kids have job security, they won't have apartments, and therefore will have to have promiscuous sex in bed with you? Anyway, read more here.
