www.huffingtonpost.com/.../the-palin-choice-and-the_b_123012.html

Reform = Dismantle ... The right's goal of disabling government's ability to do anything but wage war comes to its fruition in this platform. Everything else follows from there.

My response is to think hard about the truth of Barack's statement from the acceptance speech: "Change doesn't come from washington; change comes -to- washington." From where? The people. And why? Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Maverick - I have no idea what the reactionary right hears when they hear this, but I do know this: The change we seek is not change for its own sake, or random change, like the weather; we seen actual Progress in the lives of America's families (all of them). So if progress knows no race or color or creed or gender, then it shouldn't be surprising that Palin's both a woman and also the most reactionary public figure we've ever seen placed at that level. Ever. Think about that.

How is it that the apotheosis of the reactionary right's 40 year war on the American dream can somehow be presented as change? Only because it's what Barack is actually bringing; only as a doublespeak 'Clean Air Act' tactic. Internalize this fully, and point out what the -true- status quo is, and how McCain/Palin are as wed to Bush/Cheney and the whole lineage of reactionaries going back 40 years, and we've once again got the clarity we need.

The reactionary right has gotten such a stranglehold on our nation's fate by presenting itself as the mainstream. It is not. They are outside the mainstream, radical right reactionaries. If we don't get this country back this time, we're going to be set by the world community in a little corner with our Gameboy forevermore, as our debt to China and military quagmires mount and mount. And we will have deserved that fate.

But we have another thing in mind. Once the phones to Iowa are opened up again, get calling.

As an Albertan, I am deeply urgently frustrated by our government's rolling-over to oil companies. One of the points that have been made is that the Alaska royalties were recently significantly hiked. If she was part of that, then that's the only good thing I've heard about her....

An anti-choice ex-beauty-queen? That's so representaive of republican values.
