You are allowed to have up to two (2) cats before you become a Crazy Cat Lady. That said, a dear friend who had three cats for a long time did not actually acquire a husband until two of them when to Kitty Heaven. So maybe just stick with one to be on the safe side.

No no no no no. You're committed to your career, remember? You have a book out. You go on TV. You use allspice. You're on your way to a far far better fate than crazy cat lady.

Also, your cat isn't lonely. Cats are great, but their tiny little brains aren't really equipped to understand the concept of loneliness. When you're there, they like you. When you're not, they're thinking about eating, and how to turn other small animals into a meal. Or they're sleeping.
