Wow. Thanks a bunch Congress, that wasn't a waste of time at all. You know, those poor Christians, always trod down upon here in the US, really need Congress to support their multi million dollar holiday.

I had no idea that there was that much support of Christians from our U.S. Congress. This is absolutely wonderful and I am so ecstatic and hopefull just to know that there are people out in the world who are willing to stand up and fight for the "reason for the season!!!" God Bless :)

I find point 5, "rejects bigotry and persecution directed against Christians, both in the United States and worldwide," to be interesting. Being in California, Christians are not legally allowed to express their belief that homosexuality is wrong. You can say it as peacefully as you possibly can, without angering anyone, but the state of California has still made it illegal. Then again, I believe that law violates our freedom of speech as well.

Well then - here's my submission:

RESOLUTION

Recognizing the importance of gays, lesbians, and the homosexual faith.

Whereas the choice to love whom one chooses is of great significance to Americans and many other cultures and nationalities, and whereas love is celebrated by people of all religious upbringings throughout the United States and the world;

Whereas there are approximately 3,000,000 gays and lesbians in the United States, making same-sex the preference of at least 1/10th of the American population;

Whereas there are approximately 66,000,000 gays and lesbians throughout the world, making the preference one which can be found amongst those of every religion throughout the world and through the entirety of the world population;

Whereas gays and lesbians identify themselves as Christian, Islamic, Secular, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Jewish, and every faith under the sun, and who, out of gratitude for the gift of life and love, commit themselves to living their lives in accordance with the freedoms of religion accorded them under the Constitution of the United States;

Whereas gays and lesbians have contributed greatly to the development of western civilization;

Whereas the United States, being founded as a constitutional republic in the traditions of western civilization, finds much in its history that points observers back to its roots as supported by the acts of gays and lesbians throughout time;

Whereas on the anniversary of their wedding on each calendar year, married American heterosexuals observe their anniversaries, the holiday celebrating their union;

Whereas gays and lesbians are given no such recognition of God's redemption, mercy, and Grace (or that of their own chosen god or gods) under the law (everywhere except Massachusetts at present); and

Whereas many Christians and non-Christians throughout the United States and the rest of the world, celebrate wedded bliss as a means to make known their commitment another: Now, therefore be it

Resolved, That the House of Representatives--

(1) recognizes any marriage between consenting adults as one of the great joys of the world;

(2) expresses continued support for true equality in the United States and worldwide;

(3) acknowledges the international religious and historical importance of gays and lesbians as no different than that of any other citizen;

(4) acknowledges and supports the role played by gays and lesbians in the founding of the United States and in the formation of the western civilization;

(5) rejects bigotry and persecution directed against anyone, both in the United States and worldwide; and

(6) expresses its deepest respect to American gays and lesbians and gays and lesbians throughout the world.
