With her Henry Darger film In the Realms of the Unreal and her new Protagonist, Jessica Yu has established herself as a creative and interesting voice in the documentary field. And, like many big names in documentary film, Yu first attracted attention while she was on a special, journalistic mission — i.e., inducing people to trying a rotten-tasting "candy" and filming their reactions as they tried not to hurl. Sour Death Balls was first shown in 1993 and has picked up an award or two.
