Nostalgia Trip of the Day: The Goonies 'R' Good Enough

Posted by Peter Smith

From the "Treasures of YouTube" department, enjoy this vintage clip of Cyndi Lauper in concert at Budokan in 1986, performing her hit single from the soundtrack to The Goonies, "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough." This might be Cyndi Lauper's greatest song, and to my mind — with all due respect to the Truffle Shuffle — it evokes wistful childhood reminiscence better than the movie itself.

That actually inspired me to go to YouTube and dig up the first half of the epic two-part MTV video directed by Richard Donner and featuring Cyndi, Steven Spielberg, and a cadre of professional wrestlers, all of them dressed as if for graduation day at Rodeo Clown College. It's pretty much 1985 in a nutshell.
