Introducing: The Thursday Morning Poll

Posted by Paul Clark

Good morning, Screengrab readers. In our ongoing attempts to increase participation from our readership, we've decided to launch a new feature, called The Thursday Morning Poll, which is exactly what it sounds like. This week, we kick off the proceedings with a pretty basic question, but one that's on the mind of many a moviegoer.

If you'd like to choose the nonexistent options "Hey bud, didn't you know Speed Racer used to be a manga," "Wake me when Watchmen comes out," or simply "Other," feel free to do so in the comments section.

As much as I think (or at least hope) that DARK KNIGHT will be an improvement over DER BATMAN AND HOW HE CAME INTO THIS WORLD, there's no stopping Robert Downey Jr.

Dark Knight is the one of three movies this summer, period, that I'm a lock to see.  The others are Indiana Jones and WALL*E.

Incredible Hulk looks terrible.

No matter how cool The Dark Knight turns out to be, it's still yet another Batman movie.  Iron Man is both new and it looks totally awesome.

I don't understand how you can't be excited for the new Batman. Of course, if I got free tickets to a Superman movie I'd still be a maybe, so to each his own. But for me any Christopher Nolan movie is a lock, to be honest.

Ben: I'll call you from the ticket line.

Can't I want to see all of them equally?  I have a special place in my heart for Batman and '...Begins' lead me to trust Chris Nolan with the franchise.  Iron Man gets major points for not having been done before, and Downy looking in the previews like he had fun with the roll.  Hellboy II gets major points for Guillermo Del Toro's post-'Pan's Labyrinth' artistic respectability.  Hulk gets major points for Marvel Studios giving the finger to Ang Lee and deciding the first one doesn't exist.  'Wanted' gets major points because I enjoyed the 'Watches,' both 'Night' and 'Day.'

Can we all agree that now is a great time for comic book fans?  Film effects are at a point where the stuff we read as kids finally has the potential to make for quality cinema--or at least a big fucking spectacle that's fun to watch.

I'm more of a fan of DC heroes than Marvel heroes, so I selected Dark Knight, but that doesn't mean I won't see Iron Man, which looks pretty darn cool.
