Star Trek Showdown III: The Search for Shatner’s Sanity

Posted by Scott Von Doviak

At some point, it became my job to keep updating you on the continuing mental deterioration of William Shatner. Once you start down a road like this, it’s hard to stop. I’m afraid I’ll miss something important, like Shatner appearing pantsless and professing his undying love for Nichelle Nichols. Alas, this installment isn’t quite that intriguing, but it does provide further evidence that Shatner really, really needs to stop thinking about George Takei already.

Entitled “William Shatner responds to George Takei’s claim that he invited Bill to his wedding,” the new episode finds the good captain in a conciliatory mode…except when he’s not. He wishes Takei would stop being mean to him. He's thrilled that George has found love in his life. He’s never said anything bad about Takei…well, except for that last video, in which he said Takei had a “psychosis.” But that just means he’s out of touch with reality, right? So no big deal there. He also tackles the issue of Sulu’s promotion to captain in the Star Trek movies, rightly pointing out that if Takei were given his own starship to command, he wouldn’t be on the Enterprise set anymore setting phasers to stun on Shatner’s orders. Finally, he issues an invitation of his own to Takei. Check it out:

have been a trekkie (notice proud of the old skool method) since seeing it debut - yes I am of that age.

well Darell said it all- Shatner has always been a doofus. Having been able to speak to most of the original cast and finding them personable and friendly - Willy Boy is still a stuck in is own hubris.

He acts as if no one's ever called him a dick before. Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher, TGN) devoted entire chapters to it in his book "Dancing Barefoot" and also, I think, "Just A Geek." Someone should let William Fucking Shatner know.
