Interesting topic...I had forgotten about the EW&F version of that song. Just last week I was saying to my husband, "Why do I have memories of "Got to Get You Into My Life" playing at our swim club when I was a kid?" Then I googled it...it was the remake that was playing at the time. It makes for a nice memory.

Oh...and I'll admit it, this movie doesn't bother me and as a Beatles fan (I named my sons after them!). "Across the Universe" though really rubbed me the wrong way!

Ditto the Earth, Wind & Fire comment above. Their version of "Got to Get You Into My Life" is my favorite Beatles cover.

God help me, I don't know why I'm admitting to this, but I did own the soundtrack. All three vinyl albums of it. In my defense, I was eight and as much of a Beatles freak as an eight-year-old could be.

By the way, the Earth Wind and Fire version of "Got to Get You Into My Life" with its heavily lacquered coat of twinkly seventies soul was actually a more significant hit than "Come Together." It made it into the top ten while the Aerosmith single peaked in the twenties.

I'll now stop offering up the embarrassing depths of my knowledge about this disaster.

I'd forgotten about the sun but I do remember them all walking down a long and winding road, singing something or other. This was released right about the time I had come to the conclusion that everyone was full of shit unless they weren't and that everything sucked unless it didn't. I believe this movie was the final piece in that particular puzzle for me.
