I know Friedkin had wanted him for Sorcerer, and he was one of many potential Captain Willards when Coppola was casting Apocalypse Now. But I'm sure there are some kooky &amp;quot;almosts&amp;quot; we've not heard of. For example, I would love to hear that Cassavettes wanted McQueen for one of his dramas, but Steve instead made Le Mans or Towering Inferno.&lt;/p&gt;
