Top Ten Calvin Klein Obsession Ads

Posted by Bryan Christian

Oh, Eva Mendes. Eva, Eva, Eva... There we were, having a normal day at the office, Googling ex-girlfriends and taking clandestine shots from our flask, when all of a sudden you showed up and now... now our minds are like oceans -- calmed before the storm, but after the winds and rains, boiling at the thought of you and all the other Calvin Klein Obsession ads we've seen. Oh, how laughable, that we thought we'd never see them again. And how lucky for you, dear reader, that our favorites are here - featuring Kate Moss, Benicio Del Toro, Heather Graham, a bunch of other nameless hotties, and some deeply ridiculous Europeans in turtlenecks -- waiting for you and you alone... after the jump.

10. We include this one because it's SO '90's. Like, we're pretty sure even Garbage got freaking sick of that song the first time they heard it.

9. Yes, that's Benecio del Toro and Heather Graham. Think of it: a world where Benicio del Toro is that stunning. Our feeble minds reel.

8. A recent addition to the Obsession ouevre, but we think you'll agree -- a more than sufficiently sexy one.

7. Ha ha ha. The pain of the old man fondles our funny bone, provoking the ecstasies of joy and sadness all at once.

6. Lots of kids in commercials deserve a smack in the face. This one deserves a smack in the soul.

5. We love Hemingway, and yeah, the guy was obsessive -- but does this sell us on anything? Like, guys crying is gonna make us shell out 100 bucks at the mall to smell nice?

4. Of all the David Lynch-directed, literary-type Obsession clips, this one is our favorite, because, well, it seems to have the most to say about Obsession without making us feel like the world is full of dramatically lit stalkers and creeps.

3. We know, it's new -- but you gotta admit, it ranks up there with the best of 'em, if only for hotness...

2. ... However, can it defeat Kate Moss at the height of her powers? Hardly.

1. This is pretty much the archetype for them all, right? Angst-ridden probable-former-mimes from the continent, racked with the Bergmanesque dilemmas of love... How deliciously unbearable!

BONUS: Admit it, you were hoping to see this way more than any of the other clips, right?

Lindy Parker has worked as a ghostwriter, editor, dance instructor and a purveyor of dreams, one beer at a time. She loves Charles Dickens and Gabriel Garcia Marquez and also, straight-to-video releases with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's possible she reads more teen fiction than she should. She hails from Los Angeles, her hometown and soul mate, but she lives in Brooklyn, the fling she'll never forget.

Olivia Purnell left Ohio for sunny Los Angeles; then found that she couldn’t ignore New York City’s call, and brought herself to Brooklyn where she has worked with GenArt, BlackBook, the School of American Ballet, and finished an M.A. in Creative Writing from N.Y.U. She loves one-liners with sting and hates the stench of the subway in the summer. That said, she can’t get enough of either.

Ben Kallen is an entertainment, health and humor writer who's been lectured to by Sidney Poitier, argued with by Lea Thompson and smiled at by Jennifer Connelly. He's the coauthor of The No S Diet and author of The Year in Weird, along with hundreds of magazine articles. He lives near the beach in Los Angeles, just like the gang from Three's Company.

Nicole Ankowski has lived in Ohio, Oakland, and on the high plains of South Dakota, but is now proud to call Brooklyn home. She wrote for alternative weekly papers in the first two states, and tried to learn Lakota in the last. (The vowels can be tricky.) She just earned her MFA in Creative Writing and has been published in Beeswax literary journal. She is unable to resist good writing or bad TV.
