Top Ten Responses to the Star Trek Corset

Posted by Lindy Parker

Truly, if we could've somehow gotten pictures of each of the Remote Island bloggers wearing this thing, we would've done it in a heartbeat (come on, this year's staff calendar?).  Clearly, the Star Trek corset has caused quite a stir on the website this week, here's the top ten response comments to sexing up the United Federation of Planets...

10. "Have you ever been around someone who is from the south, but they've gotten rid of their accent? Then something surprises them or makes them angry and you hear their southern accent come out. My inner Trekkie did that right now."

9. "Set phasers to stunning."

8. "I've got a klingon on my starboard bow."

7. "Needs a reference object for scale. Given the content, my bet is that the object in the photo is about 4 feet wide (and about to be covered in nacho cheese)."

6. "I want to motorboat."

5. "Set phasers to HIT THAT."

4.  "This is the best thing i've seen...ever, including the giant rat."

3.  "My self-esteem tried to choke [my happiness] off, so my inner dialogue went something like:"That's. That's. That's... THAT'S AWESOME!"

2.  See, I would have watched that show more often if they had done it right.

1. "The bummer is that it's red which means that if she ever leaves the house, she's probably not going to come back.  Follow up response: That was only true for [the original series]. Since that's [Next Generation] style, red means she's in command. I galactic dominatrix, if you will.

Honestly, we're not even fully sure what that last one means, but we LOVE it.  We said it before, and we'll say it again: Nerds + Boobs = Magic.

The best part is that when Janelle read this, she had no idea what #1 meant.  When Zach read it, he could explain it.  Awesome.  Janelle is going to try to be a "galactic dominatrix" tonight.

About Lindy Parker

Lindy Parker has worked as a ghostwriter, editor, dance instructor and a purveyor of dreams, one beer at a time. She now writes for nerve.com's TV blog, "The Remote Island." She loves Charles Dickens and Gabriel Garcia Marquez and also, straight-to-video releases with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's possible she reads more teen fiction than she should. She hails from Los Angeles, her hometown and soul mate, but she lives in Brooklyn, the fling she'll never forget.

Olivia Purnell left Ohio for sunny Los Angeles; then found that she couldn’t ignore New York City’s call, and brought herself to Brooklyn where she has worked with GenArt, BlackBook, the School of American Ballet, and finished an M.A. in Creative Writing from N.Y.U. She loves one-liners with sting and hates the stench of the subway in the summer. That said, she can’t get enough of either.
