"Fringe" Moves To Canada; Blame New York

Posted by Lindy Parker

Turns out Fringe is the first of what we assume will be many casualties of the recent drying up of tax credits for television production in NYC...

Warner Brothers released the following statement to explain their recent decision:

"In this challenging and uncertain economic environment, we have made the very difficult decision to move the production of ‘Fringe’ from New York to Canada in the event the series is renewed for a second season." (Live Feed)

Now that Fringe is packing up and heading for Canada, we assume we'll be seeing a lot more running around in the woods a la The X-Files.  Also, if they're going to all this trouble, taking the show on the road, is it safe to assume that Fringe is getting picked up for a second season?  We think yes.

I'm not going to lie—I've never watched the show, and I probably never will.  But when I saw the image above, I screamed, "Pacey! Pacey!"

(Hmm, I never watched that show either, but god, I love Joshua Jackson. I just want to kiss his face, not watch it on a tiny screen.)

About Lindy Parker

Lindy Parker has worked as a ghostwriter, editor, dance instructor and a purveyor of dreams, one beer at a time. She now writes for nerve.com's TV blog, "The Remote Island." She loves Charles Dickens and Gabriel Garcia Marquez and also, straight-to-video releases with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's possible she reads more teen fiction than she should. She hails from Los Angeles, her hometown and soul mate, but she lives in Brooklyn, the fling she'll never forget.

Olivia Purnell left Ohio for sunny Los Angeles; then found that she couldn’t ignore New York City’s call, and brought herself to Brooklyn where she has worked with GenArt, BlackBook, the School of American Ballet, and finished an M.A. in Creative Writing from N.Y.U. She loves one-liners with sting and hates the stench of the subway in the summer. That said, she can’t get enough of either.
