
As
you've probably heard, Paul Newman -- the movie star, philanthropist,
race-car driver and all-around good guy -- died on Friday at the age of
83.
What you may not know is that Newman had a substantial career
in television as well as film. He got his start acting in "Golden Age"
dramas during the '50s, and took occasional TV acting roles throughout
his life. (He won an Emmy for the 2005 HBO miniseries Empire Falls.) He was also a sought-after talk-show guest, and made quite a few visits with fellow racing enthusiast David Letterman.
