Spitzer Hooker Replaced With Angry Wax Facsimile For "20/20" Interview

At least, that's what we think happened. How else to explain the strange look she's been given for her 20/20 interview this Friday? She's like thiiiiis far way from looking like she's in a cult. Click through for details of the interview -- and an even weirder photo of Ashley Alexandra Dupré -- after the jump.

Whose idea at ABC was it to make her so unappealing? As Gawker points out today, this gal's best shot at being someone in the world depends on her being cute. And that look ain't cute. It's, like, we don't know. She looks like someone out of a Shirley Jackson short story.

Not that we need to see this or this or even this old chestnut, necessarily

... but you know. Middle ground!

Aaaaanywaaaaays, here's what she has to say for herself according to New York's Daily Intel, People Magazine, and the New York Post.

• She is capable of guilt: "I try not to revisit that place too often, but when I think about [Spitzer's first apologetic press conference] I think of [Silda's] face, her eyes, the hurt … I'm sorry for your pain."

• But not, like, an unhealthy amount of guilt: She told the magazine that if it hadn't been her in that Mayflower Hotel room, it would have been someone else.

• She's a pro: "This wasn't any different than going on a date with someone you barely knew and hooking up with them," she said. "I knew what my purpose was, they knew what their purpose was — there weren't any games."

• (And so is Spitzer, apparently): "Some guys, they want to have conversations and really get to know each other. With him, it clearly was not like that. It was more of a transaction. Strictly business."

• She is a big reader: Since her crazy public exposure, she's mostly just been working out and reading.

• Not so much of a TV watcher: She didn't know who Spitzer was when she met him as "Client No. 9." "I mean, ask a lot of 22 year olds," she said. "I was wrapped up in my family, my music. I knew the name, but the face … I'm not really a TV person."

• Being laid bare isn't something she always enjoys: On watching Spitzer's televised confession, she said: "It was surreal. I felt like I was suffocating."

• She has unique parental influences: She said her father, who took off when she was 3, called her after she hit the headlines to say, "Damn, girl. When you do it, you do it big!"

• She's lucky: She said most of her clients were "intelligent, handsome and successful."

In the warmth of midsummer, here at The Remote Island our thoughts turned to the celebrities we love.

We heard that beautiful, sensible young Topanga is all grown up and ready to steal our jobs. And so, apparently, is A.C. Slater.

We learned that Lisa Bonet and Gretchen Mol will be joining the cast of Life on Mars -- a show that had better be good, or the sheer wastefulness of it all will make us sad.

We watched the appealing, flawed, doomed people of Mad Men celebrate Valentine's Day in 1961, then attempt to pick up new fans in Grand Central Station.

We learned that someone on Ugly Betty is going to start dating Kelly Ripa's handsome husband -- and we don't mean Regis.

We listened as lovely Lindsay Lohan got a special shout-out from the chief of police.

We got jealous when we saw Dave Letterman and Agent Scully making out. But we thought those kids from Gossip Girl should get a room.

We watched 10,000 beautiful and graceful Chinese performers at the Olympics, even though we weren't supposed to.

We watched Dr. Horrible for the 20th time, and put it on the site so you could, too. Then we watched Felicia Day's new project -- or maybe we were just watching Felicia Day.

We saw Sharon Osbourne try to check under the hood of an Ozzy impersonator to make sure it wasn't really her husband.

We were shocked to hear that Brooke Hogan doesn't vote, then decided it's probably for the best.

We were surprised to hear that Torchwood's John Barrowman is in talks to play Captain America, then decided no one would mind.

We saw a Judge Judy plaintiff hang on to her wits, and her clothes, in the midst of the L.A. earthquake -- which is more than we can say for these Big Brother contestants.

We didn't know what to think about J.Lo and that hooker lady's respective future plans, but we wished them well.

And we decided that the best way to end the week would be to hear Lisa Bonet sing -- in a French-dubbed clip from High Fidelity, naturally.

Separated at birth? Unlikely; J. Lo looks to be the work of the notorious "Dr. Photoshop".

Why has the world never gifted us with a Salma-Hayek-vs.-Jennifer-Lopez-movie? Like, you know, set in conquistador times, or our bedroom. Doesn't that seem like something someone with money, coke, a pecker, and a rich Angeleno's insensitivity to the many-hued tapestry that is the Latin world would have put together some time in 1999? Well, guess soon we'll have the next best thing, as Lopez follows in Hayek's Ugly Betty footsteps to produce her own story featuring a plucky heroine in treacherous, well-heeled environs.

Story centers on a professional thief who, in order to pull off a major bank heist, poses as a nanny to the three unruly children of a wealthy widower. When she starts to fall for the kids and their father, she must decide if she can give up her past for a chance to start over.

That actually doesn't sound so bad, but we have to say: seems like a one season story, more or less, to us. But what do we know; Prison Break has been on for 15 years or something.

Anyway, in other news, Ashley Dupre -- y'know, the surprisingly foxy prosty whose liaisons with New York governor Eliot Spitzer forced him to resign -- is gonna get her own show. And wouldn't you know it: unlike J. Lo's, it has the courtesy to be (almost!) just as worthless and sleazy as you'd hope.

Dupre had nixed a previous offer to do a Tila Tequila-style contest show for MTV, but Eliot Spitzer's tattooed honey was offered a new deal by LA reality-show producer David Krieff.

"It's a seven-figure deal," said Krieff, the reality veteran who brought together Amy Fisher and the Buttafuocos for a TV special and did a similar pairing of rival ice queens Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding.

The deal could include a two-hour interview in which Dupre would talk about her secret double life as "Kristen," a pricey prostitute whose hook-up with Spitzer at a DC hotel on Feb. 13 ruined his career.
The reality show would also focus on her family life as the stepdaughter of a wealthy oral surgeon in Wall, NJ - the life she fled to became a Manhattan prostitute but to which she's returned since the Spitzer scandal.

Elsewhere in the article, Dupre is reported to consider herself sort of like Dr. Phil. Which if we take that to mean "willing to put her nose way up the ass of the rich and powerful if it'll get her somewhere" like he used to do with Oprah: sure, we'll buy that.

Ashley Alexandra Dupré Developing Her Own Reality TV Show!

She is! Or maybe she isn’t! Or maybe she’ll be…the next Tila Tequila?

Would that be a step down from high-priced call girl?

E! News has learned exclusively that the former high-priced prostitute at the center of the Eliot Spitzer scandal is developing a cable reality series and is considering moving from New York to Los Angeles.

When contacted by E! News, a rep for Dupré declined to comment, only saying, "She has no TV deal.” Her rep would not address specifically whether she's developing a series.

A source tells E! News, however, that Dupré, 23, has been developing an unscripted show with production execs at L.A.-based Handprint Entertainment, the same company that has managed the careers of reality icons Nicole Richie and Pamela Anderson.

One of the concepts being considered is a dating format.

"They're talking to MTV about Ashley being the next Tila Tequila," says a source close to the project. (Handprint execs couldn't be reached for comment on the project; MTV declined comment.)

News of Dupré's reality-TV aspirations comes less than a week after she abandoned her lawsuit against Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis.

We say go for it all: 4 p.m. talk show, opposite Oprah and Ellen. Just don’t do anything with Flavor Flav, girl!
