"Heroes": Ali Larter On The Cancellation Rumors

So on Sunday Greg Grunberg Twittered Winding down shooting Season 3 Heroes, Tough to say goodbye to crew not knowing if any or all of us will return next year. Which set off an internet frenzy of speculation that the show might be cancelled. Speculation that Ali Larter felt the need to acknowledge...

Greg is a Twitter. Tell him to shush!

Ha! we agree. But then, continuing on the topic at something called Cosmo's Fun Fearless Male Awards, Ali said something that was neither a ringing guarantee that the show would return, nor a defiant retort to all the show's critics:

[Cancellation] would be terrible in my book. The cast just loves the show. We have such amazing writers. Bryan Fuller is coming back, which is so incredible. He wrote Nikki the first season. I connect with him on so many levels, and I think he's going to bring a strength back to the show. If the network doesn't want to bring us back I'll be really sad, but you know what, I just can't even go there. I think that the show was so strong first season, and we'll come back and get it back to where it should be.

Wow. That pretty much sounds like what we've been saying. The show was great its first season, and has gotten much worse. Bryan Fuller's return offers some hope. Although maybe if one of the show's biggest stars is basically admitting the show has lost its strength, Heroes really is in trouble.

Don't Let Matt Parkman Twitter

Greg Grunberg sent a twitter to Heroes fans that many of the twitees (twits?) interpreted as hinting that Heroes may be ending. Everybody went wild over all the internets, and the man we know best as Matt Parkman had to backtrack, and fast.

Here's the Twitter:

Winding down shooting Season 3 Heroes. Tough to say goodbye to crew not knowing if any or all of us will return next year. Hope all.

Cue shitstorm. The fans went buck wild and rabid on the world wide web, causing Grunberg to send a clarification twitter:

Don't get me wrong, 'Heroes' IS coming back next year, but some crew take other jobs, so it's tough.

Did Parkman say too much?

TV Soundtrack: "Band From TV" Performs on "The Tonight Show"

We like to think it went like this: Back in 2003, Greg Grunberg got home from a busy day on the set of Alias, settled onto his couch with a tube of pringles to watch the karaoke episode of The Bachelor, and thought to himself, "You know, that Bob Guinney's a fun-loving guy, and we have the same face shape -- we could almost be brothers! Let's start a band!"

So he called his friend Jesse Spencer who, of course was just wrapping filming on the set of straight-to-video romantic comedy, Winning London, starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (actually we think this was earlier than 2003, but we just like bringing it up).

"Why not?" thought Jesse. "I can play guitar. Also, I just finished shooting a medical pilot with the guy from Blackadder and you should've heard him on the piano the night we got blitzed on tequila." So then Hugh Laurie's like, "Look here, Old Son, I've written down the names of everyone I know on little bits of paper and I'm going to draw two of them at random out of my pocket and those will be the remaining members of our band. Wait for it, wait for it...Teri Hatcher and James Denton. Oh, bugger. He'll probably want to wear his toolbelt."

And so Band from TV was born. Ha. Get it? Because all the band members are from TV shows. Truthfully, we didn't even know they existed before today, and we've never actually heard their music, but we're thinking about ordering a T-shirt just 'cause the name is funny. Maybe we'll wait until after their performance on the The Tonight Show.

Band From TV, an actual rock group made up of performers from a bunch of TV shows, played a benefit for Netflix LIVE! last week. In addition to instrumentals by the likes of Heroes' Greg Grunberg and Adrian Pasdar, as well as House's Hugh Laurie (with extra vocals and emcee duties performed by Hayden Panetierre), lead vocals came from Lost's Jorge Garcia and Desperate Housewives' James Denton and Teri Hatcher. We've seen some shaky video of the event, and the verdict is: Garcia's really good (and actually looks kind of like the singer from The Commitments), Denton does an okay Elvis, and Hatcher shouldn't quit her day job.

"Alias" Creator Was Just As Confused As Everyone Else

Remember Alias, that spy show starring Jennifer Garner as a good guy working for the bad guys while thinking they were the good guys, then pretending to be a bad guy pretending to be a good guy pretending to be a bad guy, or something like that? And then there was all this stuff about quadruple agents and clones and prophecies by some medieval inventor who created a killer robot driving instructor who travels back in time for some reason?

Well, now it turns out that creator J.J. Abrams didn't know what the hell was going on, either.

According to Washington Post columnist Lisa de Moraes, Abrams told an audience at the TV Critics Press Tour, "I was at my friend Greg Grunberg's house a year ago -- he was on Alias and [is on] Heroes now -- and Alias was on.... I was watching and I wasn't thinking about it. I watched a few minutes and was so confused. I was like, literally, it was impenetrable. I was like: 'I know I should understand this. I read the -- who the [expletive] is THAT guy?!' "

So, no, viewers, you weren't alone in your confusion. The busy writer-producer has asserted that his upcoming show Fringe, about investigators into supernatural events, will be easier to follow. Still, someone may want to remind him of that promise right around season 3.
