The Muppets Try to Bring Funny to "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" [VIDEO]

Statler & Waldorf stopped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Friday. We love these two. They’re hardcore; their skepticism is stifling. You just know that if you met them in a dark alley they’d call your very worth as a human into question while pelting you with those rotten tomatoes. And that’s what we look for in a puppet team.

See if Statler & Waldorf took Jimmy to the alley (so to speak) after the jump:

Statler & Waldorf were decent . . . but Fallon, isn’t it a bad idea to feature heckling puppets when your show’s not quite hilarious yet? That’s not an insult. We just think that Jimmy’s still trying to find his thang. Does he stick to young facebook humor? How should he treat political stuff? Is it cool to slow jam the news? Are those new suits working for him? Everything’s still up in the air. Stat & Waldorf could’ve crushed young Jimmy in these uncertain times. Luckily the Muppets went easy on him. Next time Fallon, you better be ready for the back alley treatment.

Also, is it just us, or is the staff-induced audience applause semi-ridiculous. We can practically hear Jimmy’s interns waving strips of carmelized bacon at the front row while mouthing “laugh, you idiots”. . .

What? We’d laugh for sugar coated bacon.

Ricky Gervais Corrupts Elmo (Or Is It the Other Way Around?) [VIDEO]

Ricky Gervais was asked to serenade Elmo for, allegedly, the fortieth-anniversary Sesame Street DVD. But you put a self-proclaimed “fat guy” and a red furry in pajamas together, and the episode quickly spiraled out of control and into adult territory…much to our delight, and the director’s chagrin. Gervais lectures Elmo on drugs, child abuse, the Holocaust and necrophilia, as well as the insufferable sin of wearing pajamas in the daytime.

He’s tackled The Office. We vote Gervais gets together with our boy-crush/Forgetting Sarah Marshall-star Jason Segel and rock out the new Muppets movie.

Word on the interweb street is that Forgetting Sarah Marshall and How I Met Your Mother star Jason Segel has the inside track on reviving what we're pretty sure is the most popular variety show of the 1970's to feature a frog as its presenter other than The Sonny and Cher Show -- The Muppet Show -- after penning a screenplay for a new Muppet movie that wowed the folks at Jim Henson Industries.

In the movie... the Muppets reunite to save their studio with one last variety show.
Should the film go well, it opens up the possibility of a television programme, also written by 28-year-old Segel.
A source said: "Jason is a massive Muppets fan and is seen as the man to finally bring The Muppet Show back to TV.

Good to see this is one reboot that doesn't appear to be going dark. There's already one Meet The Feebles out there, after all.
