"The Simpsons" Video Contest On MySpace

MySpace is launching a new video contest in commemoration of The Simpsons 20th anniversary - users create their own live-action videos inspired by The Simpsons opening sequence. Here are details:

To enter the competition, fans need to create live-action videos of their own original couch gags, that are no more than 45 seconds in length, and upload them to 'The Simpsons' MySpace page.

Entrants, who must be 18 years and over, are allowed to use the audio files of 'The Simpsons' theme song, which can be found on the contest page.

The live-action videos must be submitted by May 18 and a winner will be selected by a judging panel, including 'The Simpsons' producers, on June 22.

The winner and a guest will receive a trip to Los Angeles to attend 'The Simpsons' 21st season premiere party, a home entertainment system and a custom drawing of 'The Simpsons'.

Additionally, a fan favourite winner will be chosen by users. That winner will be awarded a 'The Simpsons' prize pack.

Not to grouse or anything, but shouldn't the prize be better? Shouldn't there be some cash, and shouldn't your video at least be featured on the Simpsons website? Guess it's a matter of that not being necessary - you know Simpsons fanatics with video cameras will go apeshit over this contest even if the grand prize was a six pack of Duff.

Iron Chef Cat Cora and her partner Jennifer are both expecting sons, three months apart. Excellent! But it's the very 21st century way these dual pregnancies are going down that has our small heterosexual brians a bit bugged-out and boggled...

The "Iron Chef America" star says on her MySpace page that she and her partner, Jennifer, are each expecting sons.

"(Jennifer) carried my embryo and I carried hers," Cora told OK Magazine. "It's like surrogating, but obviously all of our kids are equal."

Whoa, chef. How is anything obvious in this arrangement? This hetero male correspondent got very confused indeed, to the point where the question "wait, what's going where?" was asked to the girlfriend, who explained the logistics, and the likely reasoning. "You know, they love each other, and each wants to carry the other's child."

Huh. Right. Very sweet, and very futuristic, like some lost lesbian espisode of The Jetsons.

So congratulations, chef. We think we understand what's happening now. But we don't understand why anyone - gay, straight, sane - would choose to have two babies three months apart. There's no sci-fi solution to that, unless Rosie The Robot Maid is available for nanny duty.

You get so much more MySpace cred for making out with the founder than for having the most friends...

Paris Hilton is apparently spending her time at Sundance making out with 43-year-old MySpace founderand CEO Chris DeWolfe. Check this out:

"They were grinding each other on the dance floor forever, before lying together on a banquette,” says a New York Daily News spywitness. “Then the couple began sucking face hard. They left out the back door, with her hand in his pants pocket."

Poor Paris. She's totally behind the social-networking curve. Everyone's making out with the CEO of Facebook these days. Those makeout sessions are more private, and you don't have strangers bugging you all the time.

Minnie Driver is getting plaudits in the media for posting a sweet, unposed photo of herself with adorable new son Henry on MySpace, instead of creating a tabloid bidding war for the first baby pics.

And she seems awfully happy -- so it probably doesn't matter so much to her that The Riches has been canceled.

Ironically, word of the show's demise also came from MySpace, when actor Tod Stashwick posted it on his blog.

We can't say we're surprised. While the FX drama -- which also starred comedian Eddie Izzard as the head of a con-artist clan that takes over a wealthy family's lives -- started strong, its second season was a little dull. As with so many shows based on a unique concept, it must have been hard for the writers to keep things going without repeating themselves.

So, anyway, sorry, Minnie -- and congratulations!
