"One Tree Hill" Actor May Have Sold Your Social Security Number [VIDEO]

Looks like Antwon Tanner wasn't satisfied just acting. So instead of directing, he sold Social Security numbers and cards. That is more exciting. But if you direct, you're probably not going to be caught in a sting operation.

Tanner pleaded not guilty at the arraignment and was released on a $250,000 bond. He and his defense lawyer refused to answer reporters' questions.

The two-count indictment alleges Tanner and others engaged in the fraudulent scheme between December 2005 and July 2008.

Tanner, who lives in California, supplied 16 Social Security numbers and three bogus Social Security cards to a middleman who sold them to an undercover Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, the source said.

Some of the Social Security numbers were unassigned while others were traced to dead people and to persons who did not know their identification numbers had been stolen by Tanner, the source said.

Well, yeah. If people know you're stealing their Social Security numbers, it's not a very good scam.

That's right, he's one of the "Da Da Da" guys! Except instead of passing time cruising in a Volkswagen, he was passing time stealing identities.

You heard it here, folks: OTH star Chad Michael Murray is on a one man crusade to save his job. Even though the CW created the show as a vehicle for him six years ago, times change, and it seems they're ready to show him the door. CMM isn't happy...

Here's the thing: after watching this video, we're pretty convinced that the bit about needing to save money was just a way for the CW to let Chad MIchael Murray down easy, and the real reason they don't want him back is actually because he's a colossal assclown. However, we've got to wonder if One Tree Hill can really work without CMM. Don't get us wrong, we have no actual love for he of the fluffy hair and perpetual squint, but we also think that to some degree the show revolves around him as the central figure. On the other hand, we're more than ready for them to kick Meredith's sempiternally whiny ass off of Grey's Anatomy, so we suppose anything's possible. Also, if the CW really is out to save money, couldn't they just replace CMM with a Sim?

A One Tree Hill episode in which all the characters are played by Sims? In a word: weird...

O-kay. We assume that blonde couple at the beginning is Lucas and Peyton, although strangely that guy actually looks more like the kid that plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies. Also, why is Sim Dan in the hospital? Or is that Nathan? Truthfully, the whole thing is confusing to us. Is it a joke? It seems like a joke, but we don't think it is. What could Mark Schwann possibly do with Sims-style characters for forty-five minutes? Maybe, he could make it interactive somehow? The audience could pick out what Haley buys for dinner, or possibly, whether Jamie's after school snack is ice cream or carrot sticks. That's high-octane thrills.

This week, The CW is getting their new lineup all ship shape, cutting and renewing left and right. Incredibly, Smallville and One Tree Hill are still with us (OTH is on its seventh season! Who knew?), while Everybody Hates Chris breathed its last unfunny breath...

Here's a complete list of shows that were given the CW thumbs up, as well as our thoughts on their renewal:

1. Supernatural -- We have nothing against this show particularly and, you know, we like hot brothers as much as the next girl. Live long and prosper, Supernatural.

2. Smallville -- We've never been able to get into this show, even though we gave it a concerted effort during season 3 when our mom was into it. The fact that it's staring down the barrel of a ninth season just goes to show you, we don't always swim with the current when it comes to our television watching preferences.

3. One Tree Hill -- We're shocked this show has lasted this long. Mind you, we're not saying we hate it. In fact, once when we'd just quit our job, our roommates came home to find us bundled up in our bed covers with a pint of ice cream, a bottle of wine and a marathon of the second season of One Tree Hill on the Soap Network. OTH has been there for us in our time of need, and for that we will always be grateful, but it doesn't make us any less surprised that its still on the air. Interesting note: The CW picked up the show, but OTH leading man, Chad Michael Murray may or may not be on board.

4. 90210 -- We feel weirdly torn about this one. One on hand, we're OVER IT, and don't want to throw good after bad. But, on the other hand, we've invested so much emotional energy already that we don't want to give up and throw in the towel without getting something out of it. We're pretty sure the CW shares our feelings here.

5. Gossip Girl -- Not a big surprise, but we fiind ourselves less excited about this news than we feel we should be given our level of anticipation over the premiere of season 2. We feel like the CW has their work cut out for them to steer Gossip Girl away from the lame (Jenny whining; Dan and Serena's constant break ups) and back toward the awesome (Blair and Chuck doing pretty much anything).

6. America's Next Top Model -- We wonder what will happen to the earth on the day that there is no more Top Model. Maybe that can be our question from the audience when we go to The Tyra Banks Show.

Also on the CW roster: The Melrose Place reboot, and the Gossip Girl prequel, Lily. (TV Guide)

Nick Lachey To Guest on "One Tree Hill"

Truly, we really thought Dawson was as it was going to get with One Tree Hill guest stars, but we were wrong. Rumor has it, former boy bander Nick Lachey, is headed to Willmington, NC to play himself in an as yet unspecified number of episodes. Given his previous guest-starring record (see: American Dreams, Charmed, Hope & Faith), it's safe to say we don't have high hopes for this particular gig. Ironically, the most believable/likable we've ever found him was on Newlyweds -- a fact that doesn't bode well for a successful acting career. Chin up, Nick -- how about a hosting a variety show? Everybody's doing it (and by "everybody," we mean "all Jessica's exes").

Remember the days when you were carefree, married to Jessica, and you both liked leather pants?

Is it weird that we find Dawson to be a better time in that clip than we ever did on the Creek?

Unfortunately, when we look at Julian, all we can think about is that straight-to-video movie in the Bahamas with the Olsen Twins and Megan Fox...

One Tree Hill star James Lafferty has always struck us as a pretty easy going guy, which is why we were surprised to hear he had cancelled his annual charity basketball event due to protect himself and his family from the recent onslaught of creepy fan behavior...

"As a result of constant harassment and gross invasions of privacy via e-mail and telephone, targeting myself, my friends and even my family, I no longer feel comfortable holding a fundraiser in such an intimate setting with fans," he wrote in the statement."

"It is frustrating and discouraging that a few have ruined it for the many this year," Lafferty wrote, without giving details. "Thank you to all the fans who have been gracious, cordial and supportive of the charity events in the past, and thank you for understanding.” (People.com)

Yikes. Our imagination has been running wild all morning thinking of all the weird, stalky things these weird, stalky fans could've done to make J. Laff pull the plug on his charity game -- break into his house? Crawl between his sheets wearing lingerie woven entirely of his own hair that the crazy, stalky fan purloined over time from his hairbrush on the set of OTH?

You know how Eva Cassidy's version of "Fields of Gold" was on Dawson's Creek for like a second and then it was on six other shows? Or the time last year when Ugly Betty used KT Turnstall's Suddenly I See in the season finale and suddenly we were seeing it EVERYWHERE? That's how we feel about Erin McCarley -- it seems like we can't get through an episode of anything without hearing her voice in the background. Last night, she performed on David Letterman, so we're pretty sure we'll be seeing more of her.

That’s our reaction every time we see a photo of James Van Der Beek. Then we wonder what he’s up to these days. Do you?

Well wonder no more. James is coming back to television. And we’re not talking about his guest roles on Ugly Betty and How I Met Your Mother, or his upcoming spot on One Tree Hill.

Dawson’s got himself a full time gig . . .

James Van Der Beek will be starring in Fox’s pilot Eva Adams. The Hollywood Reporte r says:

The hourlong project, from writer/executive producer Kevin Falls and Sony TV, is set at a sports agency and centers on Adam, an egotistic sexist agent who, under a witch's spell, turns into a beautiful woman so he can endure the harassment he's been dishing out.

Van Der Beek will play Connor, a former frat boy who is a good friend of Adam's and an agent at the firm. Denman will play another agent, Paul, a single dad reeling from a devastating divorce.

If you just can’t wait for Eva Adams, you can get your Van Der Beek fix when he appears on One Tree Hill this season. Or rent Varsity Blues, and watch Dawson do Texas while you surreptitiously stare at Paul Walker, wondering how you could get him to play your field. No? Just us?

Okay, so when we first heard James Van Der Beek was dropping by One Tree Hill this season, our reaction was like: "What? Who? Don't be ridiculous." We really thought we'd seen the last of James Van Der Beek somewhere around 2003, and we always figured if we did it wouldn't be on the EXACT SAME SET as Dawson's Creek -- did he not get enough of that town during his tenure in North Carolina? Does he not feel totally creeped out watching a new batch of kids watching the stars (or whatever they do) on his former roof? One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn might have told Entertainment Weekly: "The specter of Dawson's Creek is always around us...So I thought it would be cool to get James," but our theory is, he just thought it would be funny.

Whatever, it kind of is. Do what you've got to do, James. We're not going to judge, but let us ask you this: are you going to challenge Chad Michael Murray to a "pensive expression" contest? Because that guy's a tool -- you've totally got it in the bag.

-- My Own Worst Enemy does not look like it's going to save NBC's faltering Monday nights, having scored lower even than Studio 60, Journeyman, and LAX in similar timeslots. -- Daily Show power couple Samantha Bee and Jason Jones are all set to make a pilot (hooray) for Comedy Central (hooray!) sister network CBS. (Sheeeiiiiiiiiiiiiit.)

"Friday Night Lights": Dirty Sexy Football

This week, the episode opens with Tim and Lyla in some sort of tickle match in which we believe Lyla is inciting Tim to take off his belt, but their pillow talk is interrupted by Billy brandishing a letter of interest from Oklahoma University. Tim's reaction is fairly indicative of his standard operating procedure which involves running his life into the ground and then, in a sudden surge of ambition, pulling it back to the surface. Lyla invites Tim to come with her and Buddy to a dinner with an OU football alum. Buddy gives Lyla a "I-hope-you're-using-condoms-because-God-help-you-if-you-have-Tim-Riggins'-baby" speech. As always, we're fairly creeped out by Buddy's every move.

Grandma Saracen's health is perilous at best and the doctors want Matt to put her in a home. Matt can't bring himself to do it, and decides to emancipate himself in order to legally administer her medication through subterfuge. Only problem is, Matt's dad's in Iraq, his mom's MIA (Ha. See, it's funny because his dad's a soldier and MIA...never mind), and he needs a parent's signature. We have a question here. Several actually. Why do you need a parent's signature to become an emancipated minor? Don't most kids that are emancipated have unfit or abusive parents, or is that just on One Tree Hill? Are either of those kinds of parents likely to willingly hand over a signature cutting their kid loose?

Smash is back in the saddle again, rehabbing with the team, but it's still an emotional rollercoaster, highlighted by many a Coach Taylor pep talk.

Tami's fighting with Buddy and the Mayor Rodell about the reappropriation of the jumbotron funds. Tami stands her ground, Mayor Rodell makes ominous threats -- you know, just another day at the office.

Tyra's running for student body president and it has to be said, her homemade t-shirt is stupendous. However, she's finding it difficult to out-straight-lace the incumbent president. Landry tries to raise Tyra's spirits by coming up with some new, snappy campaign slogans ("Vote for Tyra, Get Some Action!" "A Vote for Tyra is a Vote for Hotness"), and Mrs. Collette's pep talk advice basically boils down to "smoke 'em if you got 'em," which we think may be a not-so-vague reference to Tyra's impressive rack. The next day dawns, and Tyra's campaign table is popping and locking with strippers in campaign t-shirts. The new guidance counselor rants offensively and tries to suspend Tyra for inappropriate conduct. The new guidance counselor is a pain in our ass. Tami steps in to defend Tyra, and allows her to participate in the final debate. Tyra works the crowd into a frenzy and secures victory by promising to get the student body laid at the prom. Tami is less than thrilled.

Matt runs into Julie behind the Applebee's while he's taking his fears and insecurities out on some boxes, and we pause to thank God that Julie and Matt are having a conversation. We feel like Julie could be a little more sympathetic to the fact that Matt's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, but her awkward attempts at jokes seem to make Matt feel better. Turns out Matt can't send the emancipation papers to Iraq, so he tracks down his mother who we presume, judging by the hostility in Matt's stance, took off when he was pretty young.

Tim gets it together and decides to give it the old college try at the dinner with Buddy and Lyla. Priceless quote of the episode from Lyla: "I didn't know you googled." Buddy takes Tim aside to deliver a few ambition-dampening threats, and we find ourselves right back in the Tim Riggins school of self-sabotage with only a plate of rare squab for comfort.

Tim and Lyla break up on the way home, but Lyla feels bad and brings Tim a cheeseburger. We think it's a sign of how far they've come because Lyla is very cool about finding Tim on the couch with Tyra sans pants.

"One Tree Hill": Still a Teen Show?

We have a question. How long does a teen show have to be on the air before it stops being a teen show? Case in point: One Tree Hill...

Here's a show that's now in its sixth season and passed the 100-episode mark sometime last March.

Obviously, when it began, One Tree Hill was a CW teen soap opera about a group of high school kids in a small town in South Carolina (the Dawson Creek legacy continues). However, after six years on the air (not to mention a four-year time jump written into the plot of the fifth season), the characters that started out as sophomores in high school are now in their late twenties. A similar phenomenon occurred with Beverly Hills, 90210 over its ten year run -- what started as a show about teen issues, clearly couldn't fit the same description in its later seasons when most of the characters were drug addicts or publishing tabloids.

What's interesting to us is that even though say, One Tree Hill, is now a show about adult characters -- many of whom are either married or parents or both -- most people still think of it as a show for teenagers. Is this the fate of all long-running shows that start out with high school-aged characters? Is Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas still a teen show? Just food for thought.

"Law & Order: SVU" Gets a New Babe-DA

Perhaps you've been wondering where the Law & Order franchise finds that endless stream of gorgeous female assistant district attorneys, most of whom look as if they're barely old enough to have finished law school. Well, now we have an answer: Teen soaps! Michaela McManus, recently seen romancing Chad Michael Murray on One Tree Hill, will carry on for previous model-perfect attorneys Diane Neal and Stephanie March on Law & Order: SVU.

To be fair, McManus played a book editor on One Tree's post-high-school incarnation, and as far as we know she's a fine actress. But eventually, someone's got to notice what's been going on in the New York City DA's office, and Jack McCoy will finally have some 'splainin' to do.
