"Grey's Anatomy" Finale Gets a "Big Bang" From Kaley Cuoco

It seems Shonda Rhimes is hard at work, piecing together the Grey's Anatomy finale. The latest addition to the interesting crew of guest stars? The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco...

"I am working on Grey's Anatomy next week," she confirmed. "It is a big ol' secret. I have no clue what I am doing. I swear on my life that I have no idea what I am playing because it is the finale and they are keeping it under wraps until the last possible moment."
"They called me directly last week and asked if I would do a part on the finale episode," she explains. "I didn't hesitate because I am a fan of the show, and it's a huge show so it's probably good for the career, too. And I haven't been able to do any drama in a long time.
"My guess is that I will be a patient of some kind," she continues. "I'm practicing my scared-sad-I'm-dying face." (EW.com)

We're both excited and perplexed by this mash-up of character actors: First, Liza Weil (Gilmore Girls) and Debra Mooney (Everwood) -- both quirky and deliciously snarky actors -- and now this blonde bombshell comedic actress? We'll admit it, we're intrigued. And anyway, the more guest stars there are, the less time we'll have to spend listening to Meredith, right? Win/win.

Not to worry, this is good news . . .

Summer, as you probably know, is one of our faves. She’s just so perky, she’s always kicking somebody’s ass, and she just can’t say no to a science fiction role (no matter how terrible). We like those qualities in a girl. Those attributes also make Summer every awkward adolescent boy’s dream.

That’s why she’s perfect for The Big Bang Theory, CBS’s nerd show. She’ll be guest appearing as herself on TBBT. And, predictably the main characters will flip-out over her sci-fi goddessness. We don’t normally watch this show, but we might just tune in to watch a couple of geeks give Lady Glau props.

"Big Bang Theory": Goodbye Sara Gilbert?

So here's what happened: after former Roseanne star, Sara Gilbert, guest starred on a couple of well-received episodes The Big Bang Theory, CBS announced their plans to upgrade her to series regular. So far so good. However, no sooner had the announcement been made, then Sara Gilbert's character all but disappeared from the show...

"...It turns out Gilbert is no longer a series regular! An insider tells me that the actress was bumped to recurring because producers weren't able to generate enough story for her character, who had been paired romantically with Leonard (played by Gilbert's former Roseanne co-star, Johnny Galecki). 'They couldn't write for her, so they changed her status to recurring,' whispers the insider. 'It's a little mystifying.'" (Ausiello Files)

First she gets blown up on the second season of 24, and now this. Sara Gilbert can't catch a break. Hopefully, the writers can get it together and give La Gilbert more stuff like this to do:

TV Columnist Admits TV Stars Hate TV

We all know people who claim they don't ever watch TV, except maybe Mad Men and Masterpiece Theatre and the occasional roundtable debate about the effects of global warming on penguin habitats. But now we have confirmation from AP television writer Frazier Moore that this group of Hills-despising, How I Met Your Mother-ignoring snobs includes TV performers themselves.

"Among the scads of TV stars I've talked to, I never made a point of grilling them on their TV consumption," Moore writes. "I don't recall how often it came up. But over time I started to realize (and marvel) that, out of everyone who did address the issue with me, fewer than a dozen of them copped to being TV fans.

"The rest: Well, they don't shun just the programs they appear in. They don't watch TV, period. Or so they claim."

Well, sure -- it's one thing to play Horny Nerd at Sci-Fi Convention on The Big Bang Theory, and another to admit you watch the thing. What would you tell your friends when you run into them at Pinkberry? In fact, Moore points out, it's obvious what Hollywood's attitude toward the medium itself is, given that the TV-watchingest TV characters tend to be fat louts such as Homer Simpson, Peter Griffin and Tony Soprano.

Luckily, not all performers feel that way about their own audience. The actors who Moore says do admit to being fans of the tube also participate in some of the smartest, most pop-culture-relevant shows: The Office and Extras writer-actor Ricky Gervais, Robot Chicken cocreator Seth Green, and Mad Men star Jon Hamm.

So if you ever catch yourself saying all you watch is Mad Men and The Office, keep in mind that the people on the screen are home with a bowl of popcorn and Two and a Half Men or some Law & Order marathon, just like everybody else.
